a few small suggestions

Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:07 pm

... that hopefully won't be too hard to implement:

1. Inform the player via log when general is promoted automatically via script. There is already a thread about this, and it's a matter of great importance. No need to make a big event out of it (would consume precious time resources), just sth along the lines of: "General XYZ promoted for [reason] by your Secretary of War".
I can make up a list of about 20-30 "fake" reasons, that would sound historical, if you need my help.
But *please* do let us know when this happens.

2. Turn one: as the CSA, I started sieging Ft. Sumter :dada: .But the stack was placed exactly on top of the siege graphic, and refused to be moved aside in the same region (so no tactical implications, just for ease of view, just like moving a chess piece in the same square a few millimeters to the right). Had I not seen the graphic somehow, I wouldn't have known that I was sieging - it did not say that in the unit tooltip, nor in the fort tooltip.
Suggestions: either add text info to tooltip of sieged location (fort, city, etc.) saying simply "under siege"
or
Allow us to move unit inside a region.
Probably the first suggestion is easier to implement.

3. There is no ship guide :grr: I don't know the difference between a brig, a frigate and ironclad ("transport" sounds pretty clear :niark: ). I can't see their stats in the reinforcement panel. So how am I to know what to buy for what purpose?

4. Are Jabberwock's General graphics already in the game? (a question, I'm not being ironical).

5. Is it true that generals need to be taken out of Divisions to be promoted (and thus the division disbanded) ?! Surely this cannot be.

6. Also something I hope I've misunderstood from another thread. When I am in the ledger and i select to see the generals/leaders, is it true that some of them won't show up?! (the ones in divisions stacks, I believe, but I might be wrong). Surely this can be solved. I want to see all my generals, I'm the president :sourcil:

7. Last but not least, 3- or 4-star generals should be killable. The history of the Civil War itself has too many examples. It would add to the depth of the game and make it a little bit harder harder for us.

Please interpret this as constructive criticism, once I saw the in-game bio for each general I knew I would be :coeurs: for this game. That and the army organization, and the geographical detail, and the economic options, and... :sourcil:

I can answer on some remarks, others are more along scenarios setup.

4. some, 61 and 62, but I think Jabberwock is busy with real life matters now. If someone want to take up the gauntlet...

5. not really, the limitation is when 2 generals are to be promoted in a single stack.

6. you can see all leaders with the leader filter.

7. They are, but it needs to have their army HQ overwhelmed. They can't take stray shots though. Game balance purpose, to preserve also the AI.
