River Patrols

Mon Jun 04, 2007 2:30 pm

I'd love to see a mechanism whereby Gunboats could be placed on "patrol" and, if enough of them where on patrol, they would block movement up to enemy forts. This would avoid having to micro manage controlling a river.

I think that I would use such a feature if available. I would like to have it on the blue water vessels more than the brown water. But, I do imagine that it would also be very helpfull on the brown water vessels also.

Can't you do that now by simply putting the riverboat fleet on the river adjacent to the fort?

I'm wanting to use it to effectively stop enemy ground units from crossing the river. Right now I have to put one unit in each river space. They run out of supplies and I have to move them back/forth. When ultimately, all I want is them assigned to control of the river.

So basically, what I'm suggesting is a way for both sides to fight for control of a river without having to manage it ship-by-ship and space-by-space.

I was thinking more along the lines of 'an AACW blockade-like magic wand' :)
