Some help for us PBEM fans

Thu Apr 26, 2007 5:56 pm

I exclusively play by email and rarely against the computer (except or learning/testing ideas). The current PBEM process is cumbersome and leaves the non-hosting player a bit unfulfilled (a bit like foreplay without intent...).

The HPS games allow for a re-play that allows the non-hosting player to see what is going on. I realize that AACW is processed simultaniously so I would expect different "replays" to accomodate the FOW while retaining "truth" in the file but necessarily availble to either player... or different truths (Foucaultian...) ...

and as long as I am asking... it would be nice to a PBEM button that would process and link to a specified e-mail client --- Outlook, Eudora... or web client ... and send the move ... that would match the slickness of the game ...just a thought

Check out this thread: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1769

There are two different PBEM manager type thingees being developed, but by third party people. So your wish will be granted, they're just not sure exactly when they'll be ready. Though the one addressed in that link should be going into beta testing soon. Also, I believe that they are working on a way to improve the non-hosting player's views (ie, showing a turn replay or something along those lines). That probably won't be available until development of their next game is well under way, but hopefully, it can be backloaded into BoA and AACW.
