Three Questions

Thu Apr 13, 2006 3:45 am

I am currently playing the Maerican in the 1775 campaign - I have three questions.

1. I am still not sure of this - I had Lee and a regiment of Cavarly down south - I took them to a British held level one city and they could not capture it - the area was like 90% insurgent 10% tory and 100% american - but no matter what posture I used the Dragoons would not capture the city. Any ideas? I know irregular units cannot capture cities but I thought cavarly could.

2. I sent a leader and two irregular units to capture Oswego (I think that was the name - the city a couple areas west of Fort Stanwix right on one of the great lakes). Anyway, he has been trapped there for 7 months. The area he is in is under my control but the surrounding areas are all british. The computer comes back and gives a message after every turn of this unit being unable to move for some reason that I cannot remember. Any ideas on this.

3. Is there any way to load troops on a tranport from an adjacent region? I tried this and got a different looking symbol on my sprite - kinda like the symbol for entering a city but different. I cancelled the move and move the troops by land as I really needed them now and did not want to wait if this was not going to work, so I don't know if this would have worked.

Anyway, this campaign is going well - I control Albany, New York, and Philadelphia, and most of the south. However, he has major stacks attacking Albany and Charleston. If these fall and those stacks get turned loose I am not sure what will happen. It is the winter of 1777, so if I can survive one more year I should get the French (I hope).

Again - really am enjoying the game.

Thanks for any help
Jack

1. there is a simplification here, units which can pillage can't take by themselves cities, and cavalries (not your heavy, regular napoleonic cav by the way, but dragoons = mounted infantry) can't.

2. you don't have Oswego then? If you don't have Oswego, and Oswego is an enemy held fort and the surrounding areas are all enemy controled, then you are stuck and its normal. If this is not the case, then there is a bug and I would appreciate the save sent at support@ageod.com

you can still leave anyway: put your group in passive.

3. yes it will works, you can even the ships to move away and they will load then move.
