Update confusion

Thu Mar 30, 2006 7:15 pm

Hi Fellas,

I've had this game for a bit now and am enjoying it a great deal. I've been so busy with it in fact that I have not downloaded any of the updates yet. I have three questions I'm hoping you can help me with. Please pardon my ignorance :^)

1.) Are the patches incremental or inclusive? ie is 1.05 all I need to get?

2.) Which version of the map do I need as the most recent?

3.) Will pbem games and games in progress vs. the AI need to be restarted once the new patch is installed?

Thank you in advance for helping me enjoy this fine product even more...

For now 1.05 is in beta state, it means that some bugs can still exists, and thus the testers have to give their approval before the initial release.

So I would suggest that you upgrade with 1.04, then patch to 1.04b. This will allow you to finish your games, as 1.05 is not compatible with the previous ones.

The map update is available in a separate thread and can be downloaded on top of any version, when you want.

My God an answer in less than 2 minutes - now that is service! Thank you.

I'm thinking about including some questions about my income taxes in a separate thread. Could you help me with that as well?

It only goes to show how unreliable stereotypes are. I thought every French guy was named Francois and now you find out that they actually all go by the name of Philippe! :)

Ah yes, stereotypes... the kind of things that let some people believe that they are different from each other, whereas they are 99% alike ...

Discovered patch for version 1.05 in the downloads section on 3/30, downloaded and installed it. That was before I saw, in this thread, that 1.05 is a beta. No problems so far but if any changes are made to the 1.05 patch before it is officially released, will I be able to install it over the beta without a problem?

yes.

If you download the beta patch, then you can have the privilege to reports some bugs. I expect that anyway :)

Pocus, do you have list of changes/fixes provided by 1.05 beta?

this is provided in the Birth of America directory, once the patch is installed (the file is Boa update readme if I recall well).
