I remember reading somewhere that militia troops fight best in woods and forests. Yet now I cannot find the reference. So does militia receive a combat bonus, and if so, what type of bonus, when fighting in woods/forests?
What sort of tactics are you using with your cavalry? I know they are fast but they are weak in combat. So how do you use them? Like regular infantry? Any interesting ideas on how best to use cavalry to take advantage of their being cavalry?
It's not militia that gets the bonus inthe wilderness it's irregulars (rangers, moutain boys, courreurs du bois etc.)
On cavalry I either keep them with the army (when it's in clear terrain). They are quite useful as scouts in clear terrain, when kept in evasive posture. They will rarely get caught by infantry.

they provide intel at the stack level. There is very few cav in the game, so you won't get a shock effect, but theorically they are able to attack en masse in clear terrain with a good fighting bonus, so you could (theorically) pile many cav regiments in battle and have them cut the opposition at close range.
