Questions concerning gameplay

Fri Jul 14, 2006 8:12 am

Hi there,

I bought the game a few days ago and so far it looks pretty interesting - however I have a hard time understanding a number of game-mechanics - It reminds me a bit of trying to understand Paradox Victoria game, which was quiet difficult partly because of the lack of documentation.

1. How does the besieger get supplied during a siege ? Does the supply-chips in a besieged region go to the besieger or to the besieged ?

2. Zone of Control - an undocumented feature ?

3. What's the point in having both supply-chips and supply points ?

4. How can I see whether a supply is with or without ammo.

5. Troop-contingency - where are the numbers for this for the different terrain-types?

6. Supply and attrition - Is it correctly understood, that attrition only occurs when the supply is depleted ? No matter what kind of terrain the troops are in?

7. Is it indicated somewhere in the interface, when troops loose hitpoints due to attrition? Would give the player a w :bonk: :tournepas arning.

8. It would be nice to be able to bookmark (ctr + f1 etc. ) areas of the map like in many other strategy-titles

9. Would be nice if it was possible to follow the moves of the enemy like in the TW-series (a feature that can be turned off) - gives you a picture of what he is up to.

Thats all so far...

regards

The manual is not necessarly up to date in regards with the patches. have you read the readme that comes along them?
Also you can find additionals informations here:
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=1024

An updated manual is also being done (by pmiranda, we hope to release it within a month, at maximum).

1. How does the besieger get supplied during a siege ? Does the supply-chips in a besieged region go to the besieger or to the besieged ?
the city produces the chips, except in siege, so nobody get anything. You have to live from supply wagons. The thread "detailed rules mechanics" gives you more details on that.

2. Zone of Control - an undocumented feature ?

this has been added in 1.06: Refining and rationalization of the fort effect. They now generate a 'Zone of Control' in their own region. To move out of it, you must move to a region in which you have a military control at least equal to the enemy military control where the fort is (so you can't bypass easily a fort and have to neutralize it / cover it before). You can always move out of a fort/army ZOC in passive posture.

3. What's the point in having both supply-chips and supply points ?
Units have a stock in points, but to speed up supply computing, the regions generates points in chips. The minimum allocation given to a unit is thus as supply chip.

4. How can I see whether a supply is with or without ammo.
You can pass the mouse over the unit, and you will get its current stock.

5. Troop-contingency - where are the numbers for this for the different terrain-types?
This one request more details true. I will see with the person who is updating the manual if we can add a section on that.

6. Supply and attrition - Is it correctly understood, that attrition only occurs when the supply is depleted ? No matter what kind of terrain the troops are in?
there is an attritition by lack of food, and an attrition by being in a region with a harsh or very harsh climate. Both can be cumulated.

7. Is it indicated somewhere in the interface, when troops loose hitpoints due to attrition? Would give the player a w :bonk: :tournepas arning.
From weather yes, not from starvation, sorry.

8. It would be nice to be able to bookmark (ctr + f1 etc. ) areas of the map like in many other strategy-titles

9. Would be nice if it was possible to follow the moves of the enemy like in the TW-series (a feature that can be turned off) - gives you a picture of what he is up to.

Some many things to add ;) ... We are working on upgrading further the AI for the next patch. I have strong hopes that you will find a new challenge because of that.

Thanks for your input, and welcome aboard!
