Option to destroy ones own Supplies and/or Artillery units...

A suggestion...(do not know if this was suggested already - if I missed it - sorry!)...how about giving a commander/leader/army units the option/rather a chance to destroy his supply and/or artillery ('spiking the guns') unit so then that army formation could have the chance to force march. Cornwallis did it to try to catch up to the enemy forces (and he came within a hair in succeeding...though he was criticized by some for destroying his supplies/baggage).

Suggestion...since a fort needs an artillery unit to be created...how about giving the option/chance to the Commander/leader/army unit to gain an artillery unit when the fort is destroyed. Hmm I could have added this to the initial thread...... :tournepas

Good suggestion. That's essentially what the Colonials did at Ticonderoga.

Thanks! After a scuffle with Arnold and his band near Fort Stanwix...Clinton has now 6 supply units...3 taken from Arnold. I imagine one could always use supplies in the game - nice to have to build depots! But what if an angry Washington was breathing down my neck I would think Clinton would like to have the chance/option to destroy some of the those supply units.

If those capture supplies take a hit, you won't get replacements for them, so it might be worth shipping them off where they can be used to create a depot.

I like the original suggestion, I had an Indian party capture two French supply wagons, but it slowed them down so much a French army found and destroyed them before getting away. It would have been nice just to set fire to them on the spot!

Yes, if you can do that it would be great. I assume that when this option is chosen there would be chance that this would occur or not depending upon the abilities of the commander/army unit (enemy units in the same region and the orders given by the enemy commander/units). Maybe not all supplies/artillery pieces are destroyed. A partial number/amount perhaps? Anyway thanks for you fast response!
