Question re: Ambushes

Sun Mar 26, 2006 4:01 am

Ok... obviously if you're going to ambush another unit you're going to try and take advantage of the terrain, etc. Which would seem to support setting your unit in the defensive posture....except for the fact that units in said posture only respond to attacks and do not iniate them.... so, do I put the ambusing unit in agressive (orange) posture? If so.... I don't want 2 units ambusing an army 15 times larger and getting destroyed. Any advice? THanks.

you don't have to set that like this. Stay in defensive and ask for ambush. If it succeeds, you will auto-switch to offensive (thanks to a player who made this excellent suggestion).

the terrain matrix don't penalize much irregular in offensive in the bad terrains, in fact if you add terrain contingency on top of that, you should prevail against superior number of regulars.
