Disbanding Provincial Units in version 1.03

Sun Mar 12, 2006 10:01 am

Hi,

Hope someone can shed some light on this. I installed version 1.03 yesterday and began playing the 1755 Campaign as a new game as the British. This would be the third time playing the same scenario - once when I first received the game, and once under version 1.02.

This time round I noticed something I had never seen before during the end of year "Unit Disbanding" time.

In the past version, I only ever saw Militia Units disband.

Now, on two separate years I have seen Provincial Units Disband.

First was the 51st Regiment which was composed of 3 Provincial Companies and a single Militia Company they had received as reinforcements.

Next was the Royal Volunteers of Ireland (I think I got the name correct, doing it from memory) which appear as reinforcements in New York around year 3.

This was quite strange as they appear late in the year, November I think, and then disbanded just two months later. (Guess they left their wool socks at home and got cold...)

And yes, each disband was followed with a new turn message stating that the unit had disbanded.

So, my questions are:

  • Have Provincial Units always been subject to Disband rules and I never had it happen before?
  • Or is Provincial Unit Disband something new with Patch 1.03?
  • Is Provincial Disband correct or a... err temporary feature :tournepas

Thanks ahead for any feedback or comments.

Hi,

This portion of the code has not changed.
Provincials, militias, have each a disband percentage. For provincials its quite low, around 10% IIRC... So its just a stroke of bad luck :)

hi Kenneth,

Sure, its always a good thing to fix bugs as soon as possible (see 1.03b), and it will mean less work for monday :)

True - and we very much appreciate all your hard work!

But the temptation of spending Sunday hanging out in Vieux Lyon would be a bit much for me. You live in a beautiful city my friend! :)
