Hi jhough, Corps really only work effectively if they are a part of an army. This is when they get the major command points. It may be that you are not using corps in this role. Also, make sure your individual units are organized into divisions. By placing units in divisions you increase your comman...

Intercept can be very powerful if you have already defeated and inflicted damage upon an opposing force. It might destroy them. But yes, as Charles says, can be dangerous so often. It is an excellent way to finish a weakened opponent.

It was that way for the American Revolution and the Wars of 1812. This is new to the French and Indian War and adds rich complexity for the British/American forces.

I think others have addressed this. BoA2 is the easiest, and perhaps most satisfying, game to play. It has a very low unit density and in the learning scenarios is quiet manageable. Even the the campaign game for each of the three wars only a half dozen armies are typically in play.

Gameplay is one reason. After playing all of the AGEod games, some like the American Civil War work on the very intimate level you ask for, other work on more macro levels. The Civil War version requires a lot of attention to detail. BoA2 works on a more simplified unit level. Historically, during t...

The force can move, but must start in a region where ambush is allowed and end in a region with ambush allowed. Typically, setting an ambush without moving is the best. Defense only. As an attacker you lose the advantage of ambush. As defense, if you are in an area you control, necessary for an ambu...

I shared your same frustration in my early games. However, as lodilefty relates, there are several variations, most of which lead to eventual French intervention. If I am doing well as the Americans, I hold back on the intervention options. As the British, I plug every option and can typically get a...

Surrender is never a good option. If you are artillery alone, then destroy your unit. Otherwise, hanging on maximizes points.

Which units are dismissed it largely a matter of chance. Literally. Some of your trained regulars do return after winter, but not 5 out of 5. None of your militia. Let them train. They are more likely to stay, but no guarantee. All units will train, even without a training officer. Training officers...

There are a number of options for this units. One of the most productive is an invasion of Halifax. Taking this fortress was a key aim of this war. The New England colonials make this happen so that an invasion of Upper Canada is possible.

It is necessary to have a regular unit. This can be a Continental or a State unit with a non-militia status. Militia, irregulars and Indians cannot do this.
