Thanks, didn't think anybody noticed... Although I do not own any of the other WW1 strategy games out there (Guns of August jumps to mind immediately), think that this has the most to offer. Cheers. There are not that many, sadly. GOA is a decent strategic level, almost beer-and-pretzels approach t...

Ok I debugged the AI. It works rather fine. Indeed she places camouflaged (empty) stacks in cut-off areas, not really detachments filled by units! :D Anyway, I've now made the AI do not place anymore such decoys in cut-off areas, just to avoid confusion, like happened to you! ;) Next patch. ...

Hello everybody, - Military AI now carefully checks the supply status of areas when considering the redeployment or reinforcements opportunities if the difficulty level is set 4+ Thanks for the patch. Sadly, for my current save (started with 1.08k beta and stopped just before the first redeployment...

I thought the objection was not to strikes occurring sometimes, but that they were occurring every time the scenario was played. Well, I haven't noticed this, and I'm usually very thorough in my complaints :-) (see all my other posts). I'm not disputing it, mind you, I just haven't noticed. It's tr...

The all European Socalists before the Great War were preaching Universial Brotherhood and anti-war. It is only after WW1 started that each country's nationalism overcame all this Universail Brotherhood. All the 1914 strikes show is if this nationalism had not occured as it did historically and the ...

If the battle does not occurr when the move is in an area where no battle has taken place in the current turn, yes it's the bug I discovered and fixed a week ago in 1.08L. The cause, as I wrote, is that the game engine did not erase the battles of the previous turns. Good one. We'll wait for the ne...

OK, I ran 2 more games on WEGO, CP, 1.08K beta. Difficulty and AI aggresiveness are both set one notch below maximum. The two games were the 1916 and 1918 scenarios respectively. Generally, the same impressions as above. The game is great fun and very stable, and for me the biggest problems which re...

As I wrote, maybe you're suffering the bug I spotted (also in WEGO mode). Old battles weren't removed from memory, so the game engine didn't trigger a new one (in the same area). To be sure this is the case, you can post here the zipped savegame (both .sav & .map file). Thanks, Calvinus. For the re...

These are the same problems suffered by the Britons during WW1, historically perfect. Lawrence? Aqaba? :neener: Correct, but the AI doesn't know that and tends to lose too many stacks through isolation, with disastrous consequences to its morale. For me, this "getting isolated on its own" is the AI...

One more CG game, this time with beta 1.08K. CP with WEGO again. Slight variation on my favourite "what-if" war plans: Moltke/diplo poker/munitions for Germany with Prinz/Ultimatum Accepted/Munitions for Austria. I "won" (stopped game for being unchallenging) in August 16. I am much happier with the...

Some feedback

A couple of new games with the gold version (1.08I official). My machines are all reasonably high end. I run Vista on a powerful desktop and Win 7 on a top line laptop. No crash bugs (at last!), and the game runs fast and smooth almost all the time. Indeed, it is not necessary to put mouse sensitivi...

My quick impressions from my 1.06h game (1914 2-player campaigh, CP, WEGO, all maps at start, no sounds. My machine is pretty hefty in spec and I use XP): No crashes so far :D . First patch for which I can say this. Mouse does get "sticky" (frame rate collapses) if I scroll to the little globes/Meso...

Yes, the bug fix in naval path calculation now makes the AI works much better in planning and executing amphibious attacks. However, an Italian player has already noticed some errors, that I'm going to fix asap. True. The Japanese even attacked Tsingtao for the first time. I would normally be very ...

Ok, bug fixed. Next patch. Edit: I fixed also the regression bug that prevented moving fleets from Indian/Pacific Ocean to the rest of the world. ;) Sorry to be pushy, but this is a very nice save I've got going: will the new patch be compatible with the 1.06D saves? Obviously, I can't proce...

Odd naval behaviour in 1.06D

New 2 player GC. CP, as always. Moltke + Kaiser selected. Got Italy and Romania on my side on the Early August diplo phases (nice!) whereas the Entente got Britain and Japan on theirs. From the first military phase I have had the same recurring problem: I cannot move any of my fleets into a friendly...

One more thing. Although the Japanese, as mentioned, promptly declared war on my after being prompted by their Russian friends  , their scary-looking navy proudly sailed out in the Pacific... and did bugger all for the rest of the war. Can we script them or something to invade Tsingtao at lea...

More feedback (long)

I "finished" my game described above. August 15 France capitulated (!) after Italian troops ran riot in the south and the Austrian fleet semi-battered their Med fleet. Revolution leading to autocracy came in June, then August 15 they threw in their hand. Russia are still going on despite an absolute...

So far, so very good. Played to October 14 as CP (no sound, all maps at start, yellow filter on, ai memory on) with no crashes. I have a top end rig, but up to now the game was not what I would call stable. Map is now scrolling properly, and the AI turn indeed takes less time than before. One bug re...
