Yet Another F&I Wars Campaign

This isn't really a true AAR, but I just wanted to comment on the F&I Campaign I just finished. I don't know if the AI has been tweaked, but I would have to say this was the most challenging game I have played since I bought BOA. As usual, I played the British but for the first time I actually lost ...

Tories in the F&I Campaign

I am playing the British in the F&I Campaign, it's September 1762. I don't know how long they've been there, but a Tory Militia unit is available in New York City. I am pretty sure that's a bug. :niark:

Civil War

How large will the scope of the game be?

Specifically, will the game include the Trans-Mississippi theater?

I will try it too

I just happen to be in the middle of a game too, playing the F&I Campagin as the French. So, I will try it out as well.

Pocus: It's now January, 1759. I am sure your assessment is correct. After playing this campaign several times as the British, I was impressed with the French forces (and leaders) immediately available to me. And I definitely tried to use them with maximum effect. However, I don't think the British ...

1755 Replay

I am also replaying this campaign, this time as the French. I must say, I am disappointed in the AI's handling of the British. I was expecting a much greater challenge, based on its handling of the French during previous games. The computer-controlled British and I keep trading off ownership of vari...

Playing the French

Then I would suggest you play the French side next time :sourcil: Actually, I was considering doing that exact thing. Now that I've won a total victory with the British, it would be interesting to see what I could do with the French in this campaign. Knowing what I do about the forces that will be ...

Agreed

I love playing the F&I Campaign, but you are largely correct. I just finished a campaign last night, myself. Only difference for me was, I actually managed to take Louisburg. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't easy. I spent probably 5 summers sieging that city while maintaining a year-round naval blockad...

Hello Magua

I have done all 6 items in your checklist, at some point or other. WW I, WW II, Napoleonics, and now BOA. But so far, all I have played in BOA is the French and Indian War campaign.

F&I Campaign - Braddock's Order of Battle

If there is a version 1.08, I would like you to consider re-doing Braddock's initial deployment at the start of the F&I campaign. From what I can research, Braddock's Order of Battle should more closely resemble what is described here: http://www.britishbattles.com/braddock.htm At the very least, I ...

Minor Problem

I just installed 1.07e and started a new F&I Campaign, and I notice there is now a battery of Siege Artillery in Charleston that is named "New York Batterie".

Thanks

Thanks for the change, I appreciate it. I hope it wasn't too much trouble. Showing the update version on the splash screen just makes you more confident that you are in fact playing the lastest release.

Thanks again!

Downloading Latest Patch

Does the latest patch contain the (d) in the file name? The patch I download (from the link at the top of this thread) still shows just 1.07 in the file name. Also, when the game loads, the version number on the startup screen still just says "1.07". So, I am not sure if I have the latest version. A...

I just saw a commercial on The History Channel for a program called "Washington - America's First Action Hero".

It will be shown on Monday, May 29th, at 9:00 PM EDT.

Good Point

Good point, Ardie Adding Franklin is more of an exercise in historical "what if" anyway. Had he thought better of himself in military matters, he could have had an influence even more far-reaching than he already did. Like I say, most people only associate Franklin with his role in the Revolution. I...

I should also say

You have to keep reading, to get the full scope of Franklin's military service during the F&I Wars. As I said, he was commissioned a Colonel, put in command of a body of troops, and supervised the construction of a frontier fort. But you have to keep reading through his "Autobiography" past the Brad...

Perhaps You're Right

I admit, I may have let my enthusiasm get the better of me. Maybe I should say that that is an ability set from which he could possibly draw. Having all of them at once would probably be overdoing it. Still, I think Franklin can be considered a key player in the F&I Wars, which warrants his inclusio...

Oh Well

That person has a chip on his shoulder the size of the Rock of Gibraltar. Oh well, nothing to be done for it. I too would like to see improvements in Naval Combat. I admit, so far I have only played the F&I Campaign. But it seems to me that naval units do not repair, even when left in port. Is that ...

Indeed... Your own words speak for themselves, I need say nothing more. I have no regard for you, sir. I further object to your characterization of me as "snotty." I said nothing when you first brought up this ridiculous suggestion, but decided on your becoming militant about it that a contrasting v...

Dude, Relax!

Geez dude, relax... It's just a computer game. If the designers don't like my suggestion, they won't incorporate it. No need to be snotty about it. That being said, I would argue your point that Franklin's historical effect on the F&I Wars was "miniscule". I suggest you read the autobiographical ref...

BOA-related movies

"The Crossing" was excellent, I thought. "The Patriot" was interesting only for the authenticity of the time period it portrayed. The plot was predictable and the characters were cliche'. If you watch "Last of the Mohicans", be sure to get the directors cut version. It includes deleted scenes from t...

If anyone wants to read Franklin's own words about his activities during the French & Indian Wars, his Autobiography is in the public domain and you can read it online for free at the Project Gutenberg website. Yes, Henry is right, I was referring to the French & Indian Wars Campaign. After looking into it a bit more, Benjamin Franklin as a leader would enter the game sometime in the Fall of 1755. He would also have the following abilities: Master Logistician Northerner Patriot Charismatic Anyway, it's int...

Add New Leader

I just purchased this game earlier in the week, and spent the last several nights playing the F&I Wars Campaign. I love it! If you release a new patch for the game, consider adding a new leader: Benjamin Franklin. If you read his autobiography, you will learn that he was commissioned a Colonel durin...
