A goal for every nation

Hi, I have not bought the game but are considering to do so. Does your discussion imply that every nation has their own victory conditions. I prefer a game with a defined goal over an open game.
Thanks.

You might know already but do not attach a marine unit og any other amphibious unit to a single division. If just attached to divison it will only help this division. If attached to a Corps it will speed up river crossing for the entire corps.
Cheers!

After selecting a unit containing artillery in the unit box on the bottom of the screen... look to the unit panel on the bottom-right corner, if you click on the Artillery's icon (the small box with the circle inside) it will bring up a window with a larger picture of your cannons, as well as all o...

Just a question from a novise, how do you know defence, attack and range of a cannon? Can't say I have found that kind of information anywhere. In the reinforcement panel only a strengt value is visible, for my eyes that is.

Factors I can think of - Terrain, including mud and harsh weather - Cohesion - Exceeding CP penalty - Frontage (how many units can attack at once) - affected by terrain and some other rules - March to guns - Corps in the same army can march to adjacent regions making it a smaller force much larger ...

Corps commander adds +5% to the entire stack for every skill level he has. Division / brigade commander add +3% to all elements in his unit. So an element inside a division (leader 3-4-1) in a 5-4-1 Corps leader with no CP maluses gets a + 32% attacking and a +8% defending. If a 10% CP malus not su...

Thanks a lot everyone. So to sum this up: Every general counts in the hierarky, but to which extent is not clarified but might be found in other treads, right? Hints about where, is most welcome? As Rafiki pointed out, if you had enough military control in a region, your stance doesn't necessarily change. But if you had a military contol below 5%, your stance automatically changes to attack during the resolution phase (not in the movement phase, you won't be able to seet this change visuall...

This might be about frontage, or what the expression is. How many units does actually front the enemy in a battle? Maybe you should open a new thread about that or examine other treads. Thanks for your assistanse everyone! It seems all units are affected. What I don't get is: What difference would it make if the out of command % is 15 or 35? If all your units suffer even a 1% command penalty, they'll get listed in the BRS as having command problems. You say that when you entered the battle, 15% of the Union troops were out of command; are you sure that it wasn't that the Union stack had a 15% command penalty? The exact phrase in the BR...

1. Well, if it had been the other way round (Union backfire; CSA success), you probably would've been whistling all the way to the bank ;) 2. OK, I still think it's possible to have such a shift based on options; if you are under in VP and NM, that can cause another 2 points in your disfavor as wel...

If you looked at that stack, did it show a "%" in red? If so, you did not have enough command points for the stack. You had the same number of generals for 50% more troops. So that would make sense that you had some out of command issue. Thanks for trying to help out, but seems you missed crucial i...

Late December is a turn when political options can be played; -36 seems a bit much, but if the Union has success with their "blockade"-option and your "embargo"-option backfires, you can see a large shift in foreign entry. The game log should show this. Which level did you choose for "foreign entry...

When you enter a region entirely controlled by the enemy, you are automatically switched to offensive posture. IIRC, what the BRS says (or at least, what it means) is the 15% of your units suffered command penalties, which is different from being entirely out of command Thanks very much for your cl...

Error in foreign entry level (FEL)

Playing CSA, FEL was 39 i December 1861. In January 1862 it is down to 3! Se attachement. Can't be right can it?

This is a rather important issue but I have not been too concious about this earlier.

Playing the Union in a PBEM game I ordered my force to approach Winchester. Order was blue-blue, hence I was no commanding them to attack, but defend 2 turns. Siege, how to brake it?

In a PBEM game I'm playing the enemy is besieging me. I have a decent lot of troops, and don't think he will beat me in battle. What I am wondering is: If I don't react will the walls brake and will he eventually just take over my city while my troops dissappear? If yes, is the way to avoid this to ...
