Re: Questions from a new player of the game

I am finding myself spending more time fighting the interface than actually playing the game. I hope someone can offer solutions: 1) Trouble in hot spot cities. I try to redeploy generals from Washington, and as best as I can see, I have to move the guy onto the surrounding area in the region, to se...

Re: Questions from a new player of the game

I thank both of you. Particularly for clarification on the war production screen. Maybe I should get my glasses fixed, I oringinally saw the right side of the icon as a colored bar of no discernable meaning. But now I see the timer. And the reasons for slower production make sense, I had just mis-re...

Questions from a new player of the game

1) I see units under production, both on the map and in the War Production screen. But I am seeing no indication of how much longer each has. There's gotta be a way, right? I'm especially curious because I selected a few quick-to-assemble units that supposedly took 15 days, but none of them seem to ...

Actual ironworks output depends on your NM, blockade percentage (if you are CSA) and loyalty in particular region. Since these values change over time, it is difficult to put it in a tooltip. The base ironworks production is 1 $ and 10 WS. Previous modifiers can further modifiy it. Game tip: You do...

Dept of Interior Ironworks choices

Playing as Union, I am given various Ironwork and Armory choices to subsidize in Conn, NE, and Middle States, with widely varying prices. The options say how many facilities would be built, but nothing about capacity for producing war supplies, either in absolute or relative terms. Is there some rea...

Boxes and cohesion

Playing Sibley's Campaign, I understand the need to move units slowly to avoid attrition and loss of cohesion. But this seems unworkable moving in the west coast, where you move from box to box. For example, moving from SE California to W Arizona takes several turns and there is no way to do this sl...

Colored columns on the unit card

The manual says that there are two colored columns on the units's card. Cohesion is purple and Manpower is green. The picture in the manual seems to show a blue column on the left and a purple one on the right. In-game, there are three columns which appear to be, from left to right, red, blue, and g...

Thanks. So "in this scenario" really means "for now." That makes much more sense.

This region cannot be entered in this scenerio

Just opened up the full campaign, and I am seeing "This region cannot be entered in this scenario" in a whole bunch of regions -- places like Meigs/Decatur TN. This doesn't make sense to me. There's a railroad through this region, and several others with this message! Am I misunderstanding? And, if ...

Attirition mechanics

Let's say I am moving my stack through harsh weather, and I want to move slowly so as to minimize attrition. Does it make any difference to the way the game engine handles attrition whether a) I move far enough this turn to use up the entire two weeks, and then rest for all of the next turn, or b) m...

That's what I expected (although I like the specific details in those links). But why am I NOT suffering attrition? I'm starting to think that something has gone wrong. I'm marching militia from Wisconsin to Cairo, and sending Cavalry from Texas to Missouri, and apparently losing not a single man.

Newbie mystified by attrition

Lots of things I am trying to figure out, but the oddest to me is the LACK of attrition. I'm early in the game as the Union, and I seem able to march militia units overland great distances and, as far as I can see, lose no cohesion or men. I have the options set to easy, and the first attrition box ...
