By gone missing you mean just the portrait right? Let me know if you see anything else missing. I already figured out why his portrait disappeared, I'll let Phil know.

FYI the model file in the patch just has an extra space for on the portrait line.

Its very basic, I offered to help re-write some of the events and files etc to add generals to the game with new portraits, however what they wanted to do was to keep the vanilla game and add the portraits we all made in this forum to get rid of generic portraits in the main campaign. An update on this guys, Phil Thib has made the mod/patch and I have tested it. I am not sure when they will make it available for download, but to my knowledge it is complete.

The General's Portrait Patch is in the works, all but maybe one general from the main campaigns will have real portraits, eliminating the generic clone generals from the game. Other portraits from generals like Chamberlain will be added to the portrait folders, but it will likely be up to you to add...

I suppose the idea is that prior to the battles the armies were scattered a bit as you read of Lee having to regroup his Corps to fight the major battles, i.e. Antietam where AP Hill arrived in the nick of time at the very end to save the army, and Longstreet being near Fort Monroe during Fredricksb...

That is a really good point, I'd say that is the main issue I have with the game, is the strategic piecemealing of the armies by the AI. For some reason with me I never get to fight against Lee with him having a strong army, and it drives me a little batty. I don;t have the patience for PBEM but may...

That is totally bizarre. I have had some screwy issues like that in the past and the only way to get it right was to do a clean install. I would try to do a clean install and then if you want use the modpath file. First copy the CW2 folder and paste it in the main folder next to the CW2 folder and r...

Yeah if you are worried about that just changed the forcepool. I usually just stick to making a whole new unit with its own pool so nothing in the game gets skewed.

You can copy an event and spawn any kind of unit you want, and the Flavor Name really means nothing, you can name the units and the Flavor Name whatever you want. I have not found any conflicts in doing this.

After playing with this mod idea in the game, I guess my main issue would be having such a high commander CP in the beginning of the war. If you make these changes then you can combine all the union elements to McDowell early on and there is no way he has all those commanders and units with a max CP...

this is an interesting change to the game. Although in the war it was common for a Corps to operate semi-independently in the same basic region as the main army, I like the idea of being able to put them all together as well.

I am pretty sure every leader can have a max of 8 corps. I have never been able to add more than 8 per army leader.

Check Johan Denver's mod in this mod forum and look in the files for the unit graphics (army, portrait, unit). He has a great number of good alternative pictures in there!
