How best to lure an aggressive enemy into attacking your defensive positions while at the same time ensuring that he will suffer catastrophic losses?
That is, what is the best composition of a defensive position?

I tried this in 1.03, it seemed to work pretty well:
Huger's Corps - stationed in Winchester for most of the war.
11th Division:
David Alexander
1 regiment elite infantry
1 regiment sharpshooters
15 regiments field artillery
other divisions added on an ad hoc basis.

15 artillery? Interesting idea.
Do you get double the artillerist bonus because of both corps and division commander?
Can this force be steam-rolled? Or does it drive down morale of opposing forces before they can do much damage?

1. I don't know about the bonus, but it seemed to work.
2. I would assume so, but it would have to be by a cav corps. Athena never tried that.

15 artilleries "don't fit" in the terrain matrix, ie you won't have the 15 firing at once during a given round. You are allowed to use in a given round an amount of line elements and another amount of support elements, so you would do better in adding more line elements, which will also protect your artilleries in case of need.

Thank You, Pocus.

Even if they are in a divisional container? (I assume it doesn't matter, but just curious).

OK, tried it again as the North using 1.04a. 9 field artillery + 1 elite + 1 sharpshooter + 5 line infantry. Had a great fight at Fredericksburg. I won but with 27K casualties (Lee had 21K + 6600 captured). He lost 2 divisions, I lost 1. Victory Union. Guess which division I lost. They got completely steamrolled.
