Unit divide bug?

Sadly, I forgot to save a copy of the savegame.... 
but I've been able to repeat it......
I've always been bothered that a unit inside a "non-Corps/Army container" (Brigade or Division) can't recieve new elements. (As occurs in CSA Army of Potomac at turn 3 of April Campaign)....
Clicking the 'divide' button won't separate these brigade/comanders [Holmes for example] when still 'locked' so today I tried 'ctrl-D'. Yes!!! It separated the unit from the Brigade Commander..... and then some! See attached! I created separate element units from Holmes and Bonham! And they won't recombine....
I don't want to micro manage every element, do you?????
