ATI drivers

Hey ! As the owner of a RADEON 9600 card I wonder if the new drivers from ATI have solved the problems we had with these cards.

After downloading this game I wasn't able to play the game. The scrolling was screwed and sometimes a click was given when I was merely scrolling.

I've installed some really old drivers and other games seem to suffer from this (Supreme Commander not to mention).

So any news on the status of the new ATI drivers would be welcome.

I can guarantuee you - I'll only upgrade if this is confirmed to have been fixed. When I downloaded AACW I had problems for more then one week with my computer to play this game.

Hey,

I have a RADEON X1600 and downloaded the latest drivers on Sept 28th + hotfix. I could not run AACW. It gave an error at startup about DX compatable card. I check dxdiag and found my RADEON was no longer DX compatable. I had to reinstall an older driver and Catalyst to fix it. Don't know about your 9600.

Owners of Radeon should use the Omega Drivers in my opinion. They do care about older cards, more than the ATI team.

About Omega Drivers, with which I have had no problems, except on my laptop's ATI x700, there is one cash - the latest update is from June. They seem to be slowly fading away (or else it has to do with Vista compatibility or whatever problems).
Not that by being old they are not good, of course not.
But the message should be: if your rig is working ok, do not bother in changing your drivers (experiencing talking, here  ). If not, try the latest Omega (Warcat is another set of ATI drivers that also seem good)

Just to correct myself, Omega has released just yesterday a new set of ATI drivers (7.9). I have not tested them, though (and will not, as I am currently having no problems at all with the stock 7.6 ATI drivers)

I have also 7.6 ATI driver and have never seen problem with that. Runs fine with my games.

I only have x1300 card and I have had no problems - as it is I updated drivers today - but I had no problem before that! Fingers crossed that I dont - never had a problem with Radeons - now nVidia - well that cards were just nightmares for most games I play!
