is it possible to play AACW with a 32MB graphic card?

Hi, I'm playing AACW Demo Version (scenery 1861 12 turns) with my notebook Toshiba P4 2,80 Ghz equipped with a Geforce 420Go 32MB, without problems except in scrolling map, that is quite slow...
Is it possible also in final release or I' m particularly lucky at the moment?

I think the demo works as a pretty realistic test for whether or not your computer can handle the game; the restrictions in the demo are about how long/how much you can play, but not in the game functionality itself, AFAIK.

Really?
Do you think I can play the complet game without problems?
It will be great!

if you can handle the slow scrolling, you're OK, I think. But the scrolling is really an issue of card memory. I had to boost from 128MB to 256MB, and the change is fantastic.

I am running the demo on an IBM Thinkpad 1,2 Ghz ,256 MB RAM and 32 MB Ati Radeon 7200 video card. Scrolling and turn resolution are slow but other than that it is ok. Don't know if the winter coating for regions will make it run slower in the full game.

We can't approve officially your purchase though, your config is really far under the recommanded (or minimum!) specifications.

But is there any reason to expect differences between playing the demo to its fullest extent and playing the full game? I expect the video card gets the same strain in both cases?

There was one turn during which three big battles took place in Stafford,VA between McDowell and my CSA boys. Don't know what happened there but the turn took 30 MINUTES to process (normally it takes 2 to 6 minutes)! I went to another room to read some book and checked from time to time. So now imagine you play the full game and it is 1863 and you have battles like that EVERY turn. For now, I save money for a new laptop.

I imagine that video memeory has little to no impact on turn processing; CPU and main memory being much more important for that.

The demo don't display winter regions, but you have an option to do so in the full version too.

I agree with your opinion...
Other than that, AACW is a 2D game, without sophisticated graphical effects like in 3D FPS, which needs a lot of video work...
I think that if is possible for me to play games like Blitzkrieg or Stalingrad or even Cossacks II with my notebook, it means the same for AACW, I hope...

yes and no, each region in AACW is a custom graphic, contrary to the games you cite which use a set of textures/tiles. So for AACW, video RAM size is important.
