Vacationing in Mexico

In my most recent game, Asboth was commanding a force in Matagorda, Texas. Unfortunately, the force got wiped out, and I figured I had lost Asboth. Then, a few turns later, it turns out that he had just gone to Mexico to lick his wounds, but now, I can't move him anywhere, probably because I "cannot enter the region in this scenario".

My guess is that Mexico is considered friendly territory in some way for the Union, so Asboth could use it when fleeing Matagorda, but not friendly enough to let him leave.

I had Rafael Semmes get wounded at sea after a ship he was commanding got sunk...and he spent a few turns wounded in Canada (Ottowa I believe). After his recovery, he was able to stealthily sneak back south thru Union territory, set to Passive/Avoid Battle the whole way.

Thanks, Pocus :)

I tried taking Brooklyn with an amphibious assault from the AoNV one game (just to see what would happen). R.E. Lee wound up touring Belgium.

Ouch!

At least Asboth is a very average 1-star, so I don't mind him being a military liaison to the government of Mexico the rest of the game :)

Yeah, that was game over.

About Asboth, he had a pretty good record in Hungary (13 years earlier). The only Civil War record I can find of him was as Sigil's reserve brigade commander at Pea Ridge. Maybe he is underrated?
