updates to 1.05f yesterday, July 9th. Since then I get a couple of different crashes. One said that it could not render snow for a province and the games CTD. The second CTD came when I went to process my turn. I then get a critical error message during game play and this one is random but it allows me to continue. I save and reboot the game. This bug is completely random. I have been a playtester for games before so I have tried to duplicate the errors without sucess. They are totaly random. I was not having problems before I installed 1.05f. leure:

For the snow render problem, try to lower the Max Texture Size in the Options, System window to the leftmost tick, and then if things appears stable crank it a bit.

For the bug, perhaps a new gameplay or AI bug, if you have the whole saved game I can check it, but if it is not reproducible, this will be hard. What was the exact message?

Thanks for the quick reply Pocus. Can not remember the exact mesage. It just gave me the option, in French, to continue, ignore, or abort. It said something about continous critical errors. I would send you the saved game but I have saved over that one numerous times (use the same space to conserve precious hard drive space). I will tone down the graphics but I don't see why, I have a ATI Radeon 1600 with 512 onboard meg. I also have 2gb of ram and am running Vista Home Premium.

I just upgraded to 1.05g. I will send you any saved games if I have anymore trouble.

I also have a ATI 1600 and 2 Gig RAM (but Win XP) and used to get apparently random critical errors related to the textures (specifically, during winter months, when large numbers of regions changed, but this happened since 1.0). I was able to stop them by changing a parameter in the general file on the settings folder of ACW directory, namely MemUsage. This is set to 50 (or 75 if "High memory" is on in the options) and represents the percentage of RAM that the game is allowed to used for the textures before a "flush". My system got stable when I manually changed it to 25 or below (currently 15). No more critical errors due to textures.
