PBEM Problem

I'm trying to play a PBEM game of the 1776 campaign and we've got to turn 5 and can't go further.

I played my turn, saved it and sent the .ord file to my opponent. He put it in the right folder but he couldn't see it from the "load game" menu. He decided to re-label an earlier turn as turn 6 and sent me the .trn file, but I couldn't see that either in my "load game" menu.

Any ideas what's causing this, and can we fix it?

He's that mfrio fellow. I'd recognize him anywhere! :niark:

I think it's him... I've never met him on the boards here. Mark? That you?

I'm dlpod.

We're interested in going back to turn four. It's on my hard drive in a folder called "Backup 4"

How do we start from there? Do I send him his turn?

I confess to being mfroio. Dan and I got our signals crossed. Thanks for your e-mail reply.

The one who is the host is able to revert to turn 4, simply by hovering the mouse over the turn and hitting HOME. When you see it is turn 4 on the right panel, stop! You should see both players turns with submitted orders (2 red staples).

Still something strange going on...

Hi Pocus -

I took the files out of "Backup4" and placed them in the saved game directory so they could be seen by the game. When I did this, I only saw the American turn, even thought both American and English turns were in the directory. I tried the same thing with the contents of "Backup3" and had the same result: only the American turn 3 showed.

First, you should not have manipulate the files yourself, you have the HOME key to restore a backup.

If you only see one line in the load menu, it means that the second line is a computer turn, which means that the order file has been generated by the AI. This happen if the host don't put the ord files of the other player in the game directory and let the turn run (you get a warning though, except if turn 1)
