Crash to reboot (not CTDT) problems

I'm running version 1.10 (had same problem with 1.09f). I have 1Gb of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X and 128Mb of RAM. Playing the 1755 campaign with no other programs running in and no auto notification things running either. Computer is a Sony Vaio 2.4G P4. So far the problem seems to happen when I am reviewing messages from the turn that just ended. I click on one or scroll the map and the monitor clicks and turns black. A couple of seconds go by and then the computer reboots. This seems to happen after I've been playing for an hour or 2 or if the computer has been on for a while and other programs have been run. After reboot, the game will load and run O.K. for a couple of hours and then it will CTDT again. Scenario file has been corrupted once during this but have had it occur several times in the one that I'm currently playing and it loads back up O.K. This is a fantastic game BTW, can't wait for the Civil War one. I sure hope that the launch is smoother than this one has been though because this one has been some trouble getting it to this level of stability.

Hi,
This is typically a video card driver problem. Is your up to date (from year 2006 at least?).
Regards,
Pocus.
Yep, just updated them last week

I forgot to mention that. I also cleaned up and de-fragmented both the drive that the game is on and the c: drive last week. I've searched the forum and read all of the posts regarding this issue and have taken all of the recommended actions that I could. I bought and installed the extra 512Mb of RAM in the hopes that this would improve the game performance (which it did) but I will probably not go spend a couple of hundred buck for a new video card just for this one game. I have the sound turned off in the game and all of the video settings as you suggest for 1Mb RAM.
One thing that I noticed yesterday in the 2 CTDT's that I experienced was that the error seems to happen when I'm jumping to or scrolling to the area around Louisbourg, especially right after a turn has ended. If it is going to CTDT it seems to do it when the map is moving there, but it doesn't do it every time the map moves there.

I'm not advocating that you should change your video card, just check if your video driver is up to date please (or send me your dxdiag at
support@ageod.com).
