Fort batteries

1. In my sole game so far, the CSA tried to move fort batteries around but they move ridiculously slowly, even on a ship. Don't these represent artillery pieces that are on mounts unsuitable for use as field artillery, and shouldn't they be immobile? It certainly seems something that the AI struggles with.

2. If I build a fort, shouldn't I get a fort battery and a garrison? After all, four artillery batteries have gone into it. Surely they weren't melted down to create girders.

Dont know about 2) but there is a disparity between the abilities and models .xls (EmplacedGun and Emplaced) this stops them being restricted to their region.
However never been sure if this was an error or deliberate because otherwise if you capture batteries in say Alexandria they can never be removed from the region.

Yes you can. Move them by rail. I you move them with normal movement it will take ages.
Probably the AI is not always aware of this. Besides, most forts does not have rail connection as Alexandria so it will always take ages to move the guns out.

Yeah but if the ability in the model file was EmplacedGun as per the abilities file it wouldnt be able to leave the region.
Whether this is desirable is another matter, when I used to play as CSA I always tried to capture Alexandria to grab the guns to use in the west.

But it looks as tho there was an intention to restrict their movement
