Several questions

I am still learning the game and have several questions and would love a little help.

1. What is the meaning of the feedback regarding the level of transport I have for rail, rivierine, and sea transport? Is it describing the amount relative to the amount of supply I am producing, number of troops, or some other standard? I am not sure how important it is to keep these transport resources at level 3.

2. Do the level of civil liberties setting under politics have any effect on how quickly regions' loyalties move toward you when you occupy them? It seems as just leaving them all on full libeties is the way to go, but that is pretty ahistorical.

3. Will the Union get more income if you place transports in the Union Shipping box? Is there any reason to send more ships to that box other than war ships to hunt CSA raiders?

4. Is there a file where I can see the unit statistics? I was curious for example whether horse art. woud slow down a cavalry formation and if it would add much to its punch when chasing down raiders.

Thanks a bunch for any help guys. I am really enjoying the game so far, just wish I had more time to play.

Supply is divided into 3 phases. If you have 3\3 lvl of transport that means that supply is pushes forward via this transport for each of the 3 phases etc.
Just make sure you have enough assets to move troops around and have a little left over to forward your supplies.

Personally I never touch this screen. It could use some tweaking.

Yes more transports is more income\WS.

In 1.10 divisions take the slowest element inside. Horse artillery will add punch.

Thanks a bunch: :sourcil:
1. What are the three phases of supply?
2 & 3. got it.
4. But would the horse art. slow the pursuit force down? More punch is not much use if you don't catch them.

Thanks.

1\3 assets forwards only once. 2\3 assets forwards twice.
3\3 asses forwads thrice.

Yes horse artillery is slightly slower than cavalry. Keep in mind that not all cavalry will move at the same speed as well!

If you left click on the element panel of any element, it brings up a window that lists all of the units statistics.

Gray_Lensman wrote:The recent attempt to reduce supplies at the production centers was an attempt to slow down the rate of supply growth, but my original thoughts/comments on this manner was the seemingly way to easy forwarding of supplies to armies on the move, such as Lee's move into Pennsylvania. It seemed to me that the game resupplied such armies with way too much ease.

Yeah I agree. During the ACW I don't think supply production was necessarily a problem. It was the actual forwarding of the supply to where it was needed. Especially for the rebels.

I wonder if there is a way to 'slow down' this forwarding process under the current syste. I think a drastic reduction in the cost of supply wagons would have to accompany this.

Maybe for AACW 2....

In regards to 2:

If most of what you control in a particular state has very low loyalty (under the 15% or 30% bounds), you can bring the loyalty up more rapidly using these measures. This increases production in the cities, seems to increase detection chances, and makes those regions easier to control militarily in the long run - which helps to create a secure supply line.

However, it requires a lot of patience, and the VP loss (or lack of gain) while trying to do it systematically can be pretty horrendous. No point in winning over a single state while losing the war. It is generally much more effective to post single regiments of volunteers or infantry across the rear areas and leave the loyalty settings alone. That is why this screen doesn't currently get much use.

In regards to 4:

The database is available here.

For the CSA they did have issues with production, but yes, it was certainly a big problem getting it to the troops.
