I have been a strategy gamer for a long time. When I was real little before computer games my father and I would play the hex board games on the kitchen table. I have passed this game up for almost a year and finaly bought it last week. WOW! This is one of the most in depth games I have ever seen. I even ordered a second copy to give my father when I discovered a PBEM function.

I have been reading and reading and still feel a bit overwhelmed. My one question is: I read in the manual there is a full campaign that is played in a limited region rather the whole scale but gives all the functionality of the full campaign (noted it was aquired from the forums). I figured this is the best way to get my feet wet and start learning this game. Where can I get maps like these if they exist.

Thanks

I think that might just be referring to the smaller scenarios in the new game menu.

I am sure someone else knows more though.

Welcome!

And as far as your thoughts on the game: No doubt, it rocks.

Hi and welcome!

If you have your game updated to the last patch (1.09) you should already have this half theater campaigns installed and accessible form the “New game” menu. They were introduced in one of the latest patches.
If your game version is older, download and apply the 1.09 patch ASAP! It’s worth it.

The half campaigns you look for are called East Theater 62 and West Theater 62.
In each you play the full 62 year on half the map: East (centered around Virgina events) and west (about Tennesse and the Mississipi river) and you can use all the game features (unit production, economy…) with historic setups, events and some key reinforcements
Also there you will find others little and medium sized scenarios worth a try (Shiloh, Atlanta, Vicksburg…) when you are beginning with the game.

Regards

Now this is just the coolest thing I've ever read in a gaming forum. :D
