Border Size

Hello Gents,
I was wondering if there was an easy way to resize the border images for widescreen. Currently I have a ugly looking top border. Here is a screenie of it. Notice how the edges line up at the yellow arrow.

Yes you can open
ACW\FrontEnd\MapMenu@1600.fte with notepad
Here you see
Slave0 = right_interpanel.png|-156|0
Slave1 = right_interpanel.png|-312|0
Slave2 = right_interpanel.png|-468|0
// we must go up to 2047 here
Slave3 = right_interpanel.png|-524|0
Slave4 = right_interpanel.png|-680|0
Tweak the coordinates, -156 for example until you get the panel correctly positionned. Then tell me the values (I did not have a 1680 screen when AACWwas developed)

I take it once someone gives you this information you will add it to a future patch

Hey Pocus,
After playing with the numbers, I have come up with this adjustment to slave 3:
Slave3 = right_interpanel.png|-554|0
It looks pretty decent from my view point. Here is a screenie.

For even higher resolutions.

Sorry about resurrecting a long dead thread, but I was having the same issues with my new laptop and AACW.
I have attached the updated file, which will support up to 1920x1080 resolution. Just in case anyone else is having this issue.
Go to AGEod's American Civil War/ACW/FrontEnd folder, and copy over the MapMenu@1600 file.
MapMenu@1600.fte
This file will work for resolutions up to 1920x1080, with no changes to the interpanel file. For higher resolutions please try files attached below.

Hi, Doomwalker.
Would you be so kind to point me how to update this file to my 2560 x 1440 resolution ?

Hey Franciscus,
I believe the file is hardcoded to a max of 2047. I am not too sure on that though. Hopefully Pocus will see this and give a definitive response.
I know the sizes are at there max limits in the file I posted. The only thing I can think of to help you out at this time, would be to mod the right_interpanel file itself. It is located in the AGEod's American Civil War/ACW/Graphics/Frontend/MainBar folder.
You would then have to mod the above attached file with the new size of your interpanel file. You would mod the numbers in this section of the file:
Slave0 = right_interpanel.png|-156|0
Slave1 = right_interpanel.png|-312|0
Slave2 = right_interpanel.png|-468|0
// we must go up to 2047 here
Slave3 = right_interpanel.png|-624|0
Slave4 = right_interpanel.png|-780|0
Slave0 is the width of the right_interpanel file; then Slave1 doubles it, Slave2 triples it, etc.
Let me know if this helps. If not I should be able to slap the files and changes together and send for your test.

Also, could you post or send a screeny of what yours looks like currently?

Franciscus,
Try these two files and let me know if it works for your resolution.
Edit: Please see files in message below.

Franciscus,
OK, I goofed. Try these two instead. Same placements as other files.

Place in AGEod's American Civil War/ACW/FrontEnd
right_interpanel
Place in AGEod's American Civil War/ACW/Graphics/FrontEnd/MainBar

Hi, Doomwalker.
Your second link (right interpanel) points to the same file as the first (MapMenu)...

The links to MapMenu@1600 in Post #9 works and with the last right_interpanel, the wider one, together works great at 1920x1200!
Many thanks

Sorry about that Franciscus.
Try the links now. I corrected the right_interpanel link.
Your welcome Captain Orso.

Thanks, Doomwalker. It looks great !!
Doomwalker's files should be added to the final patch, after all many people now have widescreen displays. What do you think, lodilefty ?

We need to be a bit careful.
..and remember that AACW was released in 2007!
Since you overwrite the two existing files, what is the effect on people with the somewhat lower resolutions already using those files?
(I confess ignorance of things graphic. My laptop is slightly dated, maxed out at 1200x800)
But, OK if Pocus says then OK

I wouldn't recommend replacing with these files. The file in post #6 works fine for resolutions from 1024x768 to 1920x1080. That file could be added to any new release, and would not cause the overlap.
But the files I posted for Franciscus to try, cause the overlap pointed out in the attached file.
Franciscus, what does your bar look like using the file from post #6 and the original right_interpanel file?

OK, so put together a new post here to announce what it does, how to apply it, and when to apply it, and we'll sticky it in the main AAACW forum, and add a note to the Update Readme for patches!

OK, I will do a new post for the file that I know works without issues. I will continue to work on a fix for resoluitons above the 1920 width, and hopefully be able to find a fix.
Franciscus, I will need you to test them; as I have no way of getting anywhere close to the resolution you are using at this time. LOL

Franciscus, I sent you a PM with two files to try. Let me know the results.
Lodilefty, after I get word back from Fraciscus on the two new files; I will do the new post with files, instructions, and what it is for.

Hi, Doomwalker. Just tested your files, with the original right_interpanel file, and they look very good, IMHO
Unless I am missing something (...:bonk

, I think it's good to go

Great.
Maybe then I can try them in my iMac with lower resolutions, (2560<1900), to make sure they look good in lower resolutions ?
Not until tomorrow, though...

LOL, enjoy my friend. I look forward to the day when I can run resolutions that high.
