Follow up to No Greater Glory?

Hi,

I have been keeping an eye out for many years for a follow up game to No Greater Glory (which I had on the Mac back in the mid 90s). I get the feeling some of you may have heard of it - an old strategic war game set in the ACW with political aspects to it.

I spotted this game mentioned somewhere and have had a look at the website an this forum. Is it like No Greater Glory? What are the major similarities and differences?

Thanks,

Will

Having never played that game I can't really say much about it though I can tell you this is the best Civil War game I have ever played. Forge of Freedom is up there as well but I am definitely more into AACW.

The differences are too numerous to count, AACW is a 2007 game... so more memory and processing power for so many more things.
The similarities is that you can activate drafts, paid volunteers, martial law, industrialization, blockade as the choices which where in NGG (I have the game + manual around...)

Having played No Greater Glory for a long time, IMHO you would like AACW as well.

I too was a fan of NGG when it was first released and in particular, the political/economic/diplomatic options that it presented to the player.

It is a shame that it's designer Ed Beaver (I believe he was the orginial designer of the game) did not do a follow-up version.

However, as noted, Pocus and the designers here at Ageod have played the game themselves and have incorporated alot of the same elements into their American Civil War.

I highly recommend you take a look at this title. It is excellent, and if you loved NGG, you will love AGEOD's ACW.

I'll follow up what everyone else is saying. If you like NGG, you'll love AACW. Like you I'd been waiting for a good strategic ACW game, and this certainly fits the bill.
