Intelligence Gathering

This game got me reading Shelby Foote's civil war... I am no expert but it seemed that both sides gathered a great deal of info by reading the other's newspapers. This brings me to the thought that things like calling volunteers, drafts, partial mobilization etc. should be anounced on the message log to the other side - perhaps with a one turn delay. The same might be said for taxes and other forms of raising money. I am in a PBEM game and we have voluntarily taken this step. We do not give out exact figures but just tell each other general steps taken. It keeps one side from secretly undertaking a massive inflationairy build and suddenly swamping the other.
From reading Foote it also seems that the Rebs often had some warning when fleets left harbour with a sizable number of troops even if they did not know the destination. Again would it be possible/desirable to show something like this on the opponents message log.
Just thoughts- curious to know what anyone else thinks of this.

This is something that has been requested a few times - see the Wish List thread. We can hope (And Pocus normally provides).
Nice idea about leaving harbours.
One thing I would like to see more info about is an explanation for the swings in the National Morale victory level. It's not clear why they change so much some turns.
Cheers, Chris

Foote's books are the best! And you are right, Intelligence security was really non-existant, the CSA almost always knew when the Union was "up to something", even if they were in the dark on destination. And drafts and money....should be out in the open.

Good Idea about the Ship sailings.....We might have to put that in our Game Flashman......He is handing me my assets in our PBEM game right now but the union shall overcome
