First Thoughts

Hi all,
New to the game, just downloaded and started my first scenario, 1864 for something different. After 16 turns the game ended with a 'Stalemate'! Now I am assuming it ended early because I took Richmond and all the major objectives. So my question is how could it be a stalemate, where no side reached its territorial objectives (from the stalemate box), when I had it seems reached mine? I had not lost any major battles and was clearing out most southern controlled areas. Seeing that I had done better then the real life union forces some sort of win should have been more like it?

Also the weather seemed a bit out? Snow in Houston, Texas? Form research on the net it only snows there once every ten years and surely wouldn’t be the type that affects movement and combat as the same snow effects in Canada? Also I had a blizzard hitting the Savannah area? Would this be right?

I also noticed a few bugs with units supposed to be in one area but actually sitting in another. Otherwise a great looking, interesting game. One thing I would like to see though is the ability to look over the other sides forces at the end of a scenario. See how good or bad I did.

You may want to check this post out. It has some information on the stalemate issue. With posts from Pocus, who knows this game inside and out.

The weather issue is also being looked into. I am with you on the fact that several areas of the game world get snow when they shouold not be getting it.

And...
you can look at your enemys forces by loading a given turn (it doesn´t need to be at the end, you can cheat anytime!! :niark: ) as the opposing side.
For this, on the load game menu, click on a little button to the top right of the saved games.
It will show you the AI saved games that correpond with your own so you can load and look or play his side too.
Cheers!

yes, this is an issue to be solved, I would appreciate to get your whole game Sean. Here is the procedure to send it, if you don't mind, at ageod@support.com

Open the following game directory: Ageod American civil war\ACW\Saves. The list of folders is the list of the games you have on your computer. Select the one with the problem (if you are unsure of the name, the time stamp can help you), then do a right click: you should have a menu to zip it into an archive, as a single file. Zip the game, and then send it by mail if under 5 Mb, or by a website* if bigger (there should be only one file to send).

*sending by a website: you can try unbase.com, the operating procedure is as simple as sending a mail.

If ACW is the same as BOA and you are willing to do a little modding, changing weather is easy.

Open up the weather folder in the gamedata folder. Look for Weather Patterns DeepSouth. Change percentages to what makes sense.

I haven't made the change myself because weather works well in BOA but it certainly looks easy to change.

You can also do this just by selecting your most senior general and pressing Alt+F4.
