How can you estimate the supply consumption of any unit per turn? I like very much the supply system in the game but I am still using it rather intuitively.

It's on the bottom right. Look for the little cannon balls and the icon to the right of it. Hover your mouse over them and it should tell you the supply and supply that will be used.
