Are smaller scenarios winnable?

I played (almost) every small scenarios on both sides, and neither achieved a victory nor lost: always stalemates. Sometimes I played very poorly (especially as the CSA) and was constantly defeated in the single battles, but nevertheless the scenario ended with a stalemate. Playing the Gettysburg scenario as the Union I thought I had 100% control over Gettysburg and its region, but the result was a stalemate (I admit I probably didn't achieve a decisive victory in the single battles, but the victory conditions seemed to require only the control over Gettysburg). Am I missing something?

No, you did fine, the conditions for victory and defeat are still a bit 'too' difficult... we'll work on that soon

I achieved a score victory at Bull Run. But let's face it - weren't all of these battles real rather bloody stalemates than actual victories?
Bull Run - Federals rout, but the Rebs are in no condition to complete victory by taking Washington.
Shiloh - snatching a bloody victory from the claws of bloody defeat. Federal losses actually exceed those of the defeated Rebs; no effective pursuit.
Gettysburg - more or less the end of the offensive power of the ANV, and Meade holds the field, but at what cost? And the ANV gets away too.

I've gotten decisive victory a couple of times on the Bull Run scenario and many times on the Shiloh scenario. All of those were as the Union though.
Only tried the Gettysburg scenario once before I gave up in disgust.

No joke! Victory illusive...

You're not kidding, Phil, about the difficulty of winning the shorter scenarios. I've been knocking my self out over Shiloh as the CSA, and have yet to do better than stalemate.
Get this - in the last attempt, I not only took back Nashville in three turns, but went on to get Bowling Green two turns after that. I held Memphis and Corinth with no trouble, plus sent Bragg to pick up Forts Henry and Donelson (he took both). D.C. Buell and A.S. Johnston spent their time chasing each other around eastern Tennessee, not really accomplishing much.
I ended with more VPs, plus control of all objectives and then some (all gained several turns before the scenario ended), and still a stalemate! The only thing I could figure out is that morale points didn't move very much - that's the only thing that I can imagine is preventing me from scoring a victory.
Maybe I'm just too spoiled by the fairly straight-forward objectives of BoA.

I've had the same experience. In the Bull Run scenario, do Victory Points count for anything at all? It seems only National Morale counts. Maybe VPs affect NM?

I have won in the first two scenarios. I played them several times before getting a victory, and I must admit I got flogging in one game as well.
I haven't succeed in the third yet.

Hey GW - did you move the morale numbers very much when you got your wins?

But did you achieve only a score victory or did you conquer the strategic objectives?

Yes controlled Memphis and Richmond respectively
The Victory message "You have shattered the enemy's morale and we have won a gloriuos victory" or word that effect

Sounds like it was definitely not gaining the objectives alone that got you the victories, but you also got great morale scores and vps. I guess that's a lesson to us all - objectives alone won't get you any better than a stalemate.
This is really different from BoA - I don't object, but it does make it harder to win, which might not be a bad thing.
By the GW, any way you could arrange a "reverse" reincarnation? You willing to come back in 1861 as a CSA general?? We'll let you take some body armor back with ya....

I won a decisive victory in gettysburg as the CSA by taking Washington.
