Great work on the game guys I am very impressed... :coeurs:

Has anyone done a review of the game yet? Have you managed to get any of the press to look at it?

I saw one web site that gave the game only 66% based on user feedback http://games.gamepressure.com/game_info.asp?ID=9141
!!!! :fleb: !!!!

This can't reflect our opinions can it?

The first "professional" review are expected this week, something tells me that James Allen from "Out of Eight" could be the first to open the bal, so watch out! ;o)

NB: Two Frenchspeaking specialised magazines have also published some previews this month (Cyberstratege and PC4War). I've only realised recently that there were no major PC Strategy focused magazines for English readers. That's odd, the market is much larger than the French speaking world.

I like James Allens reviews a lot. :coeurs:
They are funny, informed and “to the point”.
And he knows what he is talking about… something unusal in the reviewers of the big game sites around the web. A lot of people think strategy means only RTS... :tournepas

I bet AACW will get at least an 7/8 score! :cwboy:
Cheers

Ooo...my ears are burning. No, my ears are really burning. I wanted to see inside so I lit a Q-Tip.

Expect a review of AACW to be posted May 3rd at the latest (middle of next week).

Just a note of thanks to our friend from Out of Eight. I've recently bumped your link up to a place of higher prominence in my favourites.

Your reviews are reliable, easy to read and hitting the mark with those aspects of gaming that I'm most concerned with. It you give a game a 7/8 or an 8/8 I'm automatically giving that game a closer look, and quite often purchase.

I'm currently wondering how someone could keep up such a website and have a real life as well, including a day job or significant involvement with "she-who-must-be-obeyed".

Keep up the great work.

Cheers.

My full-time job is teaching, so I get home around 3:00 (7:00-2:30 school day). That and time over the summer is how I can play all of those games. Plus, my wife doesn't come home until 5:00 ;)

The gaming public needs to know how good this game is. Even I, a BoA veteran, came by it by accident.

I flip-flop between classic wargames (BoA, SSG Decisive series, HOI2.DD, etc) and Roleplaying games (World of Warcraft). I burned out on WoW lately, so it was time to get back to some old fashion historical counter pushing. :p apy:

I first tried Making History, The Calm and the Storm. Nice layout and concept, enept reality. Then HOI2.DD with Armaggedan (spell) add-on. Well Arma is bugged to hell. I reinstalled without the add-on, but ho-hum :( been there, done that. I was looking forward to playing into the late '50s to the mid 60's that Arma offered.

Then I search the web, look in on Ageod (since I wanted to see what they were up to) and see AACW! Nice, but it hasn't been that long since I played BoA, and it is quite simillar, right?

But I love it. It seem as if the BoA system not only adapted to the ACW perfectly, it seems as if it was always meant for it. It reminds me of an old SPI boardgame "War Between The States". But with much greater detail and an AI :D

So many on this forum have tried to find a way to capture the essence of this game. I think I can say what it is.

This game is a Strategic/Operation ACW game. It has the strategic elements of Forge of Freedom. But instead of going from Strategic to Tactical, AACW opts for the Operational level where timing and organization is everything.

Be there Firstest with the mostest :dada:

Me too, I bought a copy of Decision Games remake of it while anxiously awaiting this release. It's great to re-visit an old favorite, both on table top and now on the PC. Though finding opponents to play against on table top is all but impossible these days.

:niark: You need to breed them, then take away their allowance when you can no longer win :bonk: .

I hope for myself that the Wargamer won't be as incisive with AACW as they were with BOA, for lack of better words. It led to some hot discussions in their forum, with quite a number of players disagreeing strongly with some remarks made. :innocent:

Is there wargaming discussion on Wargamer.com anymore?

Doesn't look like it to me, just a bunch of flame wars and political crap.

That place has really gone downhill :fleb: :fleb:

You have to browse to the correct forum. The two that I look at regularly are:

games --> General Computer Gaming
games --> Board Games and Miniatures
