Playing as the Union, I have carefully avoided Kentucky territory. Now the CSA has invaded Kentucky. Can I counter-invade, or will Kentucky secede?

I think that if you see the message "CSA has invaded Kentucky!" you are now OK to enter, as a liberator. I think...
I invaded Kentucky as CSA my last game, and there were indeed penalties for this. Fewer Ky troops in my pool, 100% Union loyalty throughout the state. Which kept inching control of vital rail lines back to USA control (annoying). And perhaps others I did not immediately notice.
I'm guessing that once you see the invasion mesage notice, the worst of the bad effects have already hit the other invading player...so you'd be safe.

Does anyone actually know how the Kentucky events work. As the CSA I noticed Kentucky was mainly confedearate from the first go and a few cities like Bowlng Green and Louisville were union, not having a clue there was any such thing as a pre-programmed event around turn 4 I reinforced Fort Donaldson and started an attack on Bowling Green. All I noticed was that around turn 8 an event was triggered saying that the Union had invaded kentucky, odd because they were there since at least turn 5 and another event said Kentucky has joined the CSA.

There were a few 'bugs' in the Kentucky events from the original version, most have been fixed. Here are the general guidelines:
A - Kentucky may secede and join the CSA by itself in Sept 61, through a scripted event with a low probabilty (10%) and if the CSA moral is higher than the USA's.
B - Whenever a militia unit situated in KY is attacked by the other side, KY joins the agressed side (no deadline, automatic).
C - whenever CSA captures Bowling Greene, or Union captures Lexignton, the kentucky joins the other side.

Can USA and CSA controlled and activated Ky state troops (only) fight in Ky without triggering B or C?

C - whenever CSA captures Bowling Greene, or Union captures Lexignton, the kentucky joins the other side.
How exactly does this work, as any attack on either town would immediately trigger B, sending the state to the other side.
Does this event have the possibility of triggering multiple times, sending kentucky's loyalty swinging from one side to the other(As with Bragg's late 1862 campaign)?

This still seems buggy.
PBEM game. Under version 1.02, Union invades KY for the first time in early Sep '61. Game triggers the USA Invades event. CSA militias in KY are unlocked, and loyalty shifts in favor of the CSA. No problem.
Upgrade to 1.02a. Next turn, CSA moves forces into KY, since the Union already invaded. Now, two messages fire, both USA Invades and CSA Invades! CSA militias get locked again, and loyalty shifts back towards the Union.
Doesn't seem like the first USA Invades event prevented future events firing off.

I would also like some information on this. I am sitting patiently waiting for the US to goof and cause KY to join the CSA, but it hasn't happened yet. They have taken both Lexington and the town west of Lex, can't remember its name off hand. But, nothing happens. I invade to take BG and get the mesage CSA invades KY, and there goes all the flags switching to the "Stars and Stripes". What is going on here?

Can you send me the save and tell me at which turn things started to be wrong? Thanks.

I think Kentucky is important for the CSA as the South needs men in the long run but for the Union, whether Kentucky secedes or not is not much of a difference in terms of manpower and supplies.

it's just another hurdle for the Union to take
