Hi iceboy,

once you restored one of your backup-turns you can't go forward again. To do that you should create a copy of your latest save before restoring a previous turn.

Ouch. I must say the save system is one of my few complaints about this game. It is very annoying to not just be able to save a game and keep that save as is. I do not like always having to worry about my saves because everything is always automatically overwritten. It is driving me crazy... :bonk:

Yes, there is a rumor that some people here and there feel that the save game system is a bit unconventional. I don't mind mind that, as every true player I never reload but prefer to perish with flying colours.... ;)
(There are actually some reasons, which I forgot, why the save game system is as it is.)
Your save isn't overwritten but copied to a backup folder and a new save is written. At all you have 24 turns saved which you can recover. The only flaw may be that if you load a previous turn your current one is lost...
The games are saved under: ...\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\Saves\
You can manually create a backup of your savegames before loading a previous turn and copy the files back if you decide to continue with your latest.
A good idea may also be to delete the save games of discontinued campaigns as with every new game you start a new save-game-tree is created.

you don't necessarly lose your current game if you reload the previous turn, because you can create a new branch in the tree by doing a ctrl-click on the save turn button.
