I'm not looking for anything fancy. I'm just curious if the game has Music and if there are any sound effects such as marching durring movement and battle sounds durring combat resolution, etc.

Thank you

There's a full music soundtrack of all the usual Civil War tunes; very well played, actually. Sound effects are limited to movement noises (marching, horses, train) and 'battle' noises when one is fought; all you need in this sort of game, really.

And cries of battle ie: "Charge!" "Retreat!" etc...

AACW has 101 sounds effects, compared to 20 or so for BOA. Riverine move, slow rail move, fast rail move, steam ships entering harbor, etc. The battle sounds are dynamically composed, depending of what happen during the fight.

Can I add my own MP3 files to the AACW "play list" on the PC?

The current music is fantastic but I would like play a few extra tunes from the "Ken Burns - Civil War" CD with the game. :cwboy:

yes

open Sounds.ini with a text editor in the C:\Program Files\AGEod's American Civil War\ACW\Sounds folder.

I guess you have to copy the needed MP3 files in this folder too .

Shame on me, this would not work, because the code need to know what is a song and what is not... so an added song would not be played, until I find one hour or so to clean the code on that (so many things to do, so few time to do it ...).

I would advise you to take the good old winamp route for now: disable music in game and make your play list with an external player.

But how can you keep all the nice songs from the 2SCSB along with the one you want to add ?

by making a playlist in winamp or elsewhere, in the playlist you can add songs from different folders.

That's what I do for most of my games, AACW, included. I have a WWII playlist, a Civil War playlist, etc. Windows Media Player allows you to make a playlist with ease.
