AI? What will "she" be able to do?

I have some concerns about the AI in this game...

1. There will be a multi-theatre Grand Campaign, right? Then will the AI then be able to handle them properly? I don't want to see a huge Union stack of 300000 men (collected from other theatres) steamrolling into Virginia.

2. Does she understand what is prudent? I mean when and where to defend and when and where to attack?

3. Does the AI have the ability to fight a long term war? This is really important as I see it both sides expected a short war and after the 1st Bull Run saw it differently?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm concerned because the AI in BOA has the habit to collect regiments and leaders to North and leave the South undefended.

We are still fine-tuning AACW AI and these concerns have been included.

As for BOA, the AI behavior is just "historical"...most of the AWI took place in the North and a lot of the southern recruits ended up north. When Cornwallis showed up in the south in 1780, the American were taken by surprised and it took them some time (and general Greene's talent) to avoid disaster down there, while most of the Continental Army was kept hovering around NYC.

Now this behaviour has also to be adapted in the game...we are concerned about it and shall fine tune this, of course... :indien:

Yes, I know the Americans had lots of trouble there (as did the Brits before the Cornwallis' expedition). I was referring to the fact that even the British AI tries to "race" towards North. Which looks rather funny...

I hope that the AI for AACW really is able play it carefully when needed and not go for the attitude like "Richmond/Washington or bust" in the 2nd year of war.

FYI, the British AI also does the logical thing (which in my opinion cost the war to the Brits): the north is where the Americans get their largest troop contingents (both CA and militia), so it is "clever" to try to grab the area...

In addition, the area is more easily conquerable than the South...

..3.but we shall investigate that matter (and others) to improve on the AI

Do you envisage improving the AI even after the game is released?

Yep, taking from the BoA experience, you can expect continuous improvement of AACW. (I say "improvement", not "actual finishing of the game").

Now if "she" could also cook food and do the laundry, I'd marry "her". :niark:
