Abilities Question.

Most of the abilities on the best generals apply to their stack. When you make a general an army commander do these abilities only apply to the army stack if you have some reserve units in it, or will they transfer to their subordinate corps? I'm a little confused on what exactly affects a subordinate corps, for example, when you look at Robert E Lee's stats.
Thanks.

AFAIK, only the Strat/Off/Def ratings of Corps commanders are affected, for better or worse. Traits, etc., are not transferred. A good example is having McClellan as a Corps commander under Grant - he's actually quite decent, around 4-3-3 or so.

There are a couple of leaders with abilities that are passed down to corps under their army command, such as Gifted Commander and Good Commander, even if the corp are not in the same region. The description of Strategist actually speaks of being the Commander-in-Chief in a District, but according to the Lists of Commanders only the ****Grant and ***Edmund K. Smith have this ability and I don't think it has any actual meaning in in non-modded AACW.
You can check this page for a list of all abilities in the game:
