Replacement screen closes

With the 1.16 patch, I find that sometimes, when I hit the right mouse button to lower replacements selected, the replacement window will just close.
Annoying, but not a show stopper.

My experience too.

Same here since last Release Candidate, just before 1.16.

I noticed it too by right clicking to remove factory (investment) in the economy part of the ledger; but in my case it was each time you rigth click for the first time.
To be clear the sequence is: open ledger on economy book - right click to remove investment lead to close the ledger window - open ledger one more time - right click remove investment as intended.

Yes, ditto with the Econ screen.

Sorry, gents, but I can not reproduce what you are seeing.
I did, as always do when a major patch comes out, a complete uninstall, registry clean-up, restart and clean reinstall of AACW, and then 1.16.
I assure you, I can right click on the economics screen, or the replacement screen, in fact on any ledger screen, and it does not close, even on the first time that I right-click. I see a total normal behaviour with right-click.

Hi Franciscus,
I also did an uninstall, deleted the game folder before installing original from CD + applying new patch. Due to this problem and also missing data (no title on battle report, no NM or VP at the top left, ...) I did it twice but still get the problems. What I missed is to do a restart (was too impatient to give the new patch a try, had 1.15 before). Perhoups it can solve the issue. I am going to try tomorrow but for the time being it's time to sleep.

It only happens if the very first thing you do is right-click on something. If you left-click on anything first it doesn't happen.

No, it does not.
I just tried, with CSA or USA:
- left-click to select new game
- left-click to select the scenario (tried 1862 w/Ky and 1863)
- left-click to validate the name
- left click to select the side
- F3 to go to replacements screen (or any other F screen)
- right-click anywhere: ledger does not close.
If I resume a game and the first thing I do is go to a ledger screen and right-click, the screen also does not close.
Again, I am not seeing anything wrong, sorry

Happens to me every time. First right click after each turn/load. Obviously something is different between your system and/or files and the
6+ so far reporting having the issue. Certainly can't deny it's happening...
I wonder if the clean install then patch is the key?

Yes same here. If I decide to go back and right-click to lower an inf replacement total by one for example, it will occur but I will be bounced right out back to the main map screen. I can live with it.

I have the same problem. My experience has been that the right click that closes the ledger also decrements whatever I was wanting to reduce.
My workaround has been to simply jab the F2/F3 shortcut key, which avoids all of that tedious mouse-clicking business to get back to Reinforcements/Replacements.

Well, it's very strange. I do not understand how I am not seeing this problem. I will later try it on my other system, a laptop to see, but I am clueless...
Maybe wait for lodi to check on this....

I cannot replicate this either!
I've done patch-over-patch and no issue.
I'm running Vista, what are you guys running?

Try this sequence:
1. Load a saved game
2. Hit 'R' to cycle through units
3. Hit F3 to open replacements
4. Hit left mouse to add a few
5. Hit right mouse button to remove a few
I think step #2 is the key.

Yup. Confirmed.
In fact, it also does it if you cycle with E, T, or Y [and maybe more]

For now, dev time is seriously limited.
So, to paraphrase the old joke: "If it hurts when you do that, just don't do that!"

Definitely can live with it. It's annoying, not game stopping.
I'm just guessing we're all happy we weren't crazy

Definitely !

But my apologies, as a beta, for not having spotted this annoying bug...

Huh, that's wierd. I never use the unit cycle keys. If you don't use them, you can't open the ledger at all with a unit selected. Once you use them you can, but it closes when you right click

Well, I just spotted this bug in NCP latest beta, RC4a. As we still have to finish NCP, there's hope that when the exe for NCP is finalized, this bug can be squished - and also in the AACW exe...

Sounds like another Windows 7 issue to me. I can't host with it either (well at least I gave up messing with it as I am due for a new set up soonish anyway), and I had weird mouse issues with the AGEOD WWI game.
It's a minor irritant in any case.

My own apologies, as a beta, for having spotted it but not reporting it. I thought it was "just me" messing something up.

+1
What's even worse, though, is that it didn't even
occur to me to report it. I assumed that someone much smarter and more perceptive than I had already reported it... but I didn't think to check, to make sure.
Lesson learned!
PS We're using Vista Business 6.0.

This bug is also present in ROP 1.03...
Probably an easy fix on all the latest exe files...

I wouldn't say it only happens to me after cycling units with R, E, T or Y. I don't remember either if unit had to be selected or if it even happens when only texts are displayed in information panel. I have to make some further tests but it will be on this week-end. Sadly the week is dedicated to work ... with a little forum browsing to stay in the mood and to be able to wait till the week-end! Who said adddict?

By the way I run the game with Vista

It happens because the Army Outliner and the Ledger logic step on each other, who wants to be visible and must hide the other, etc. kind of thing ... You could reproduce it simply by having a unit selected and calling the ledger. New EXEs will have the bug fixed.
It seems I found the solution, but watch out for some oddity about when the AO should be masked or should be visible.
I would say this bug is there since the creation of the AO, so not really a regression bug from new code additions. This is rare, but it happens, to fix old bugs. I think the record is a bug from code that was not changed since 4 years (fixed a few weeks ago, I don't remember which one though, but Steve may remember)

While you are looking at ways to refine the Army Ouliner so as not to conflict with ledger logic, I wonder if you could take a look at something else that is sort of related.
I should start by saying that I've removed the Army Outliner from AACW and WIA. I think it's a neat concept, but in its present form it just doesn't work for me. Thinking out loud, what would I need to make me want to use it?
Two things.
First, I would want control over what expanded or contracted flags get to show up on the side of my playing screen. If there's a unit (e.g. the Mexican army if playing ACW as the Union) that I'm not using and unlikely to ever use, I don't just want to shrink its flag into contracted form, I want to banish it altogether, with the possibility of getting it back if there's an intervention involving Mexico.
Second, and this is especially important if I have a lot of independant armies in play, I want to be able to specify somewhere which armies show up as expandable or not expandable flags. And I want to be able to add or remove armies from that list as the situation changes.
Now I realize that that is a pretty tall order. But I prefer to pick my way through the ledger when I'm figuring out who or what I want to move, rather than have my peripheral vision cluttered up by units that I don't even want to know about, let alone move.
Other people may have different activity styles, so my preferences may not be generally relevant. But I think the AO would be a lot more effective if you could customize it, and have your customization choices carry over from turn to turn until you change them.

You can remove the AO? How?
