Turn Compression

I've never been able to get the Turn Compression/Password feature under Options/Media to work. If I enter a password and hit enter, nothing happens, it just sits there. It doesn't create a zipped file ... nada.

Any tips?

I'm on 1.16rc4a

I think it "only" compresses the file ansd puts on the password.

If you try to open the .ord file with notepad, you will see garbage, as it is compressed.

I know it's working, because one of the recent bug report saves came to me compressed and protexted ;)

...the tooltip is somewhat misleading...

OK, so if I type in the password but cannot hit Enter, it should be working anyway if I read you correctly.

I expected to have to hit "Enter" for the pw to stick, but it seems that's not the case.

Thanks!

Don't forget the password :D

IIRC, your game will "remember" the password until you go to the entry and re-enter. ...thus you may not have to reenter it every turn....

...but I'm in "foggy memory" mode, as it's been a while

BTW, you can also enter no password at all just to get the compression, thus never endangering losing or forgetting the password, it that is your need.

My anti-virus program then complains that all the save files are de-compression bombs :)
