Newbie mystified by attrition

Lots of things I am trying to figure out, but the oddest to me is the LACK of attrition. I'm early in the game as the Union, and I seem able to march militia units overland great distances and, as far as I can see, lose no cohesion or men.

I have the options set to easy, and the first attrition box is ticked, so I can learn the mechanics of the game. However, the documentation I have seen would make me think that that only protects against attrition when troops are stationary, not on long marches.

Is there something I am missing here?

Hi dbemont!

Take a look at these links. Maybe this can help you. ;)

* Attrition

* Climate

In addition, each day spent in a desert incurs severe attrition losses.

Regards! :thumbsup:

That's what I expected (although I like the specific details in those links).

But why am I NOT suffering attrition? I'm starting to think that something has gone wrong. I'm marching militia from Wisconsin to Cairo, and sending Cavalry from Texas to Missouri, and apparently losing not a single man.

I'm sure that you are losing some men, but you are also receiving replacements and therefore you don't notice your casualties. :)
