I played Bloody Shiloh and captured Corinth and Memphis. Which were my objectives. But it was still a stalemate. How?

Not sure if this is an explanation, more technical players might shed additional light.
Trying to obtain a the reward of strategic or overwhelming victory from the game reports should not be a goal in ageod games. If you and AI or your opponent lost troops as you likely did, then the 60 victory points are not a very big number.
Losses are more important than geographical goals. You need a significant victory in battle, typically, to shift this balance in the shorter scenarios.
However, you achieve what you intended. So major victory.

Explain scoring...if you can
Self explanatory.
Some here do understand it, I'm sure. Most of us haven't attended MIT and the Sorbonne, so we just let the program do what it wants and judge results for ourselves.
I had a Union game against the AI, where, by Jan 66 (higher difficulty), I had taken every Objective and about 85% of every Strategic city or town. The South was slivers.
AI sez: Stalemate!
Go figure.

Anything other than an out-right win usually results in what is called a stalemate. It has been mentioned in other threads that VPs are almost useless for determining victory
I would guess that you were playing the scenario, which has some issues with how the objectives are defined (for example, as the CSA you don't seem to get anything for capturing Bowling Greene).
The standard way to win is to either get your NM up to a certain point, or get your enemies to below a certain point (or vice versa). So watch your NM.

"It's just a flesh wound! Come back and fight, you coward!"
.........
and this is how the scoring was arrived at:

Kind of annoying! But at least I know a little more. FYI NM was at 148!!! 2 points shy of the 150 that is also mentioned.
Doggone it. PGT Beauregard went up took Nashville, Took Bowling Green, took those forts Grant starts at. Wait, maybe not Bowling Green, but Nashville for sure and the two forts/cities that is the starting point for Grant.

Ignore what the end screen says. You know if you've won the scenario or not.

Indeed, I learned that the hard way. In my last full campaign, I held all of the objective locations, outnumbered the Union by around 5,000 victory points, and.... stalemate!
But the Confederacy succeeded so I saw it as a Victory. Regardless, I now see it as a challenge... Next time I'm going to try to win by NM.

Still a great game, though! I have to admit, I let this sit on the proverbial shelf while I played another title about the American Civil War.

Maybe well known but here goes......
Automatic victory/defeat is different than a VP outcome.
Automatic victory/defeat is based on the national morale difference.
National morale can change from capturing enemy NM cities, from battle or from scenerio or campaign specific scripts.
For VP's the scoring is also scenerio/campaign specific.
Hit the VP cities tab will show you all the VP cities for the scenario or campaign.
Usually holding a normal city with units better than militia is worth 1 VP per/turn.
National morale cities (with a star) are usually 3 VP per/turn.
In battle, the VP's are based on units destroyed and what type of unit was destroyed.

Although it states at the end of the scenerio or campaign a stalemate, it also states the VP totals. You can judge from there.
I will agree with you , It is a great game........

bigus,
Thank you. I knew there was a technical expert of this game who would break this down for us. I am not sure I understand, but you present this with great clarity.
