Hello,

Just started the grand campaign, and I note that I have a lot of static units. How long do these units stay static for? How do they become static? How do they become "un"static?

Cheers

Thanks for that. When new units are created, I presume these are never static then, it is only existing units?

As Gray says: units you purchase are not static, but they are "frozen/static" until they are built. As an example, an ironclad takes many turns to build. It will be static/frozen the entire time it is being built. Near the end, the tooltip will say something like "static for x turns". Then it will release, and be ready for use.

Also, the "free" militia units that come and go during the game are mostly static for their entire existence. You can see this as the lone militia guarding towns/depots in the rear area. Or the garrisons of forts you capture from the enemy. They are raised when a specific event is triggered (1st enemy unit in Georgia, capture of Ft. Monroe, yearly milita levies, etc.). My experience is mostly with the south, and usually around Early Jan, a lot of militia show up all over the map (without having to purchase them).

Hope this helps.
