It's not that restictive, the member count is up over 2400.
There were a few people that did not also care for DRM, after talking with Norb, the Developer, and getting an understanding of it, they are now members.

I don't really get what's the point with this DRM crap. It is "digital rights management" so what does it have to do with having to use two computers in the same time?

I might have to purchase this, I loved the Second Manassas game and Sid Meirs Gettysburg, and this seems to be the best of both! Multiplayer is just too good to miss

Hello fusileer2002,
Multiplayer is really cool,we had up to 9 players on a single game...
Have you tried the demo ? If you do, remember to install the latest patch...

So is this game worth the $40 purchase price as far as replay value goes? In everyone's honest opinion of course.

I have played the demo, and although it was similar enough to the previous game to jump straight in, I really like some of the changes. For example, being able to "sidestep" line formations makes setting up positions so much easier.
As for replay value, I can only offer my own opinion and that is multiplayer will give it immense longevity. I can only begin to imagine the possible matches, scenarios, mods etc that could keep it going for ages. I played Sid Meiers Gettysburg (not by the same people as this game for anyone unfamiliar with the games, but very similar) in co-op mode with two friends playing the entire first day of the battle. It was truly awesome, with moments of excitement, chaos, desperation, blame and pretty much everything else thrown in
As soon as I can spare the money, I think I'll be buying this. Will probably be playing it with the same friends i'm still playing Ageods ACW with, but will also look forward to some of the big mp games mentioned!

So I went ahead and bought it... twice. Ya ya, stupid me did not input my correct email address, and also being as impatient as I am, could not wait for a reroute to the correct email. Anyways... been playing it a while now and I must say it is quite entertaining in the strategic and tactical fields. One question though... What is with multiplayer? Whenever I log on no one is on, so I am guessing that there is a person setting up ip games? I would love to get in on that if said project is being done.

Hey Ariston,
Have you tried to connect up with the guys on MP yet? The MP has really picked up as more and more people are playing now...
They have set up a
'sticky post' that they use to schedule the MP time they will be meeting.
It is in the Main Forum, under
"MP Forum".

Gentlemen,
My apologizes, even with the CD-ROM purchase, DRM will still be used.

I almost bought it, but then read the DRM system. No thanks.
That said, looks good, and hope the majority who don't care about such things enjoy whuppin' on Boby or George .

Gray_Lensman wrote:Thanks for the attempted straight forward CD-ROM info, but how about some real details?
1.) Is it the same DRM as the download version with just a different distribution media? Forget it. I won't be buying it.
OR
2.) Is it an "Insert CD and leave it in constantly" type of DRM? Annoying and I still won't be buying it since I don't relish prematurely wearing out my DVD/CD drive motor or listening to the drive noise constantly
OR
3.) Is it an "Insert CD to start then remove CD after game startup" type of DRM? (but don't install/alter my operating system drivers to read the CD/DVD) I would personally give it a try.
OR FINALLY
4.) Is it a Digital Key system like AGEods? My personal favorite DRM scheme but admittedly easier to pirate than (3) above but also has other different advantages for the publisher to take active measures against excessive pirate abuse.
These are the types of DRM details that I'm interested in BEFORE trying a DEMO or buying any game.
Gray-Lensman,
The CD-ROM game version will have the option to manually activate/deactivate, and no internet connection is required (it can all be done by email)

Gray_Lensman wrote:Can you have it installed on more than one machine and be able to switch between them without having to wait for an email activation code each time you want to switch?
I do a lot of back and forth traveling. When I'm home, I like my desktop system with my 20 inch monitor... When I'm on the run... My Laptop is my choice. I keep my save games on a memory stick.
If you use the email method, then you will have to wait for email activation/de-activation. You can't have one code active on two machines at the same time. The preferred method would be to de-activate/activate online when switching between two computers. Or you can just purchase two codes.
