Small or big brigades?

Well what is better, to buy small brigades or big brigades?
Only thing I can think of is that small ones can be destroyed more easily so I have to buy them again where big ones can draw replacements to recover lost elements out in the field, on the other hand small ones give you a bit more flexibility over big ones.
Anything else?

Once you have your army filled out and have some extra generals, those big VA and TN brigades can make pretty nice independent forces. I generally build with small brigades and save as many of the big ones for outlying defensive units or small raiding groups.

Personal Preference for what you need at the time. I usually try not to buy big brigades in battleground states as I don't want to lose the brigade before they can build.

I prefer the two and three unit brigades, especially for the early game. They are ready for combat quicker, and allow more tactical flexibility, than the six or seven unit brigades. The lower command penalty helps when shifting the unit from front to front or stack to stack.

The big brigades can be cost prohibitive. On the plus side, they can form an instant division (just add a few independant units). If I have the resources, I will buy the big ones.
