Escaping a seige issue?

Trying to figure out if this is WAD or a bug...

I had JJ unde seige in Rolla. JJ hada stength of about 1000. Seiging forces 1500. Suddenly, one turn, with no battle, JJ was outside the structure, the seige over.

My opponent said for five turns he kept saying to exit the structure with evade battle and, after five turns, the seige was over with any fighting.

Is that WAD?

if you were in defensive yes. Defensive is a kind of gamble, think of it for siege like a 'loose siege' where you create a circle arc before the city, without approaching too much of it.
In offensive, he would have been switched automatically in offensive too and a battle would have ensued.

I learn something new every day when I play this game! Thanks. I never knew that you needed to be in offensive mode for a seige.

Andrew,

I think you may have misinterpreted Pocus.

You need not be in offensive mode to conduct a siege. In a game, I am besieging a structure in defensive mode (for several reasons it may be advisable) and I am making breaches and even inflicting hits on the defender.

What, I believe, Pocus meant is that if you are on defensive, then you may let the opponent slip away by him choosing avoid combat and defensive mode, beacuse no battle would take place between two stacks in defensive mode.

However, if you are besieging in offensive mode, then a battle will immediately occur beacuse of your offensive posture (provided, I think, your opponent not managing to avoid battle).

Finally, it may also happen that his original defensive stance turns into offensive beacuse of lack of military control, in which case a battle may also occur, the sallying party being the attacker.

Hope that helps (and I am not mistaken :tournepas )

Yes that's that.
Also, if there is a combat and one of the party was sortie-ing of a structure, he will be switched to offensive forcefully. We don't want to have the besieged get the benefit from the terrain either :)
