Disappearing army support units.

I am playing the 1861 Campaign April w/Kentucky PBEM, latest patch, and some strangeness has happened. I had built two new CSA HQ and also bought a signal, engineer and hospital unit for each, along with another set for the already existing Confederate Army of Potomac. I railed all the units to their respective locations (Colombus and Bowling Greene KY) where I then put Generals with three stars in charge of the two new armies. I put one each of the support units with each army so they all had a full set.

All was well, but then I noticed the support units started disappearing. This turn all of them were gone except for the engineers with Army of Potomac.

What happened? Does the game naturally absorb their functions into the HQ if they are in the same hex? Is this a bug? They all disappeared and there was no reason to, no battles, etc.

Anyone else had this problem?

You need to post save games if possible (or send them to the support team).

They might disappear if you let them get "all the way red." Keep this from happening by buying Service Asset replacements, etc.

Nope

These were all newly built support units. I waited until they were fully trained before railing them to join their respective armies. They were around for a turn or so, then poof, 8 of the 9 were gone without a trace. None had been in the red.

I first played ACW a couple of years ago then left off PBEM until recently. I had the sense that maybe, through the many patches since, they added a lot of new but undocumented game features. So I thought this might be one. That seems to be the main problem picking up this game after a few years. There have been lots of changes since and only the vets seem to know what is going on anymore.

Great game when you get to the top of the learning curve, but definitely not casual friendly. I guess I better get to reading through the forums and wiki some more.
