Army names

Can you change the name of an army? For instance, when a Corp commander is promoted to a 3-star General, and he receives his "HQ", he becomes the commander of, using a ficticious name let's say, the Army of Southern Virginia. Can you go in and change that name to something like the "Army of Virginia"?

Fair enough. Thank you for that prompt answer.

The closest I've been able to manage was to rename an existing unit, such as a Corps, and merge the AHQ into it. Even though the HQ unit retains its assigned name, the stack shows the one I defined.

For a work-around on naming armies:
+ When you have 3-star General and ArmyHQ in region where you want to form new army, before forming army, save game and exit ACW
+ Go to Factions file (ACW/GameData/Factions)
+ Backup the factions file
+ Open either 0Union or 1Confederate folder, whichever is appropriate
+ Find the GHQinfos line looking like (for CSA):
GHQInfos = CSA|Army of Northern Virginia|badge_CSA_ArmyNV.png|$Richmond, VA|CSA|Army of......
+ Add the following type of section to this GHQInfos line (copy existing section and modify, this is an example):
CSA|Army of Kentucky|badge_CSA_Army.png|$Warren, KY
+ In this example, Army of Kentucky is designated for Bowling Green, KY (found in region Warren, KY). Note that "badge_CSA_Army.png" is the generic CSA Army graphic
+ When folder is saved with changes, start ACW and open saved game file, go to desired region (this example, Warren, KY) and create the new Army. In this example army will be designated as Army of Kentucky.
+ Name your army whatever you want, but this method must take place prior to the desired army formation.
Thanks - Bob

The Army names seem to be determined by the location where they are formed; eg, giving Grant an HQ in Hampton VA in '62 formed the Army of the James. If I were home (instead of on holiday) I'd do some testing.
The corps designations seem to be somewhat based upon the corps historically in that Army.

Yellowjacket, thanks for the information. I'll try that workaround.
