Surpriser Trait Gone in 1.14?

It could be just my bad luck but I haven't seen one battle in 1.14 where the "surpriser" trait has occurred to give the first fire. I have had about 20 battles where a leader with the trait hasn't triggered it. I know each battle only has a 20% chance but I should have seen some by now. I don't have any saves as I'm just expressing a feeling. Has anyone else noticed an absence of the surpriser trait?

Are you running with full debug mode on? If so you can check in the battlelog file to at least see if it is checking for surprise. If so you should see a line that looks like this:
"Not enough surprise for group 1003526 T. Jackson's Command Surprise %: 20 against CounterSurp of (%): 56"

Just search for "surprise" in the file.

I posted the above from a battlelog.txt from 1.13b, as I don't seem to be getting a battlelog file produced under 1.14 at all - anyone else noticed this problem?

I'm not sure we can assume it's not working until someone looks into a battlelog file to see. I can't do it because I'm currently not getting that file produced.

Also BI, it's not just a flat 20% chance per battle; that 20% is compared to the "counter surprise" (see my quoted line above) of the opposing force to determine if surprise is achieved. So depending on the opponent force you can actually go a long time w/ no successful surprise, and thus not see it reported even though the check is made.

Here is the formula for "counter Surprise" (per Pocus sometime ago):
"Counter surprise is (for the stack): (Hide Value + Detect Land) *10 - CP cost of stack + 3 * Leader Strategic Rating +1"

It appears the surprise check is still being made in 1.14QF1a, at least according to the battlelog (which I got to generate after a reboot). Here is an attack I just made with Magruder as a test:

" Not enough surprise for group 1000784 Magruder's Command Surprise %: 20 against CounterSurp of (%): 45"

I'm going solely off the log however; I don't recall seeing a successful surprise attack recently either. But it appears the check is being made.

Ok thank you for that.
I downloaded the battle log but didn't install it as I'm totally hopeless at things like that.
Thanks again
